And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

This was the SC giving themselves and all politicians free reign to take bribes by promissory note. Another new low point in American governance.

And it is exactly what happened after Trump's vaunted tax cuts passed.

Incidentally, those same tax cuts expire at the end of 2025. The SCOTUS decision to take the Snyder case is surely just another coincidence.

Neil Friske (yes, pronounced "frisky") is a MAGA Michigan State Rep, member of the Michigan Freedom Caucus, a Trump loyalist and election denier. Of course, he's anti-LGBT.

And of course... he was arrested at 3AM on gun charges and sexual assault after he was witnessed chasing a stripper while brandishing a gun.

He's still running for re-election. He's claiming he was framed and the charges are a "Democrat" conspiracy. If he loses, he'll undoubtedly claim the election was "rigged".

A Michigan state representative may face felony-level sexual assault and weapons charges after allegedly sexually assaulting an exotic dancer and then chasing her while brandishing a gun.

Republican state Rep. Neil Friske, 62, was released from the Lansing police lockup late Friday morning, The Detroit Free Press reported.

Friske allegedly "chased an adult dancer after a disagreement," MIRS News reported, after police responded to reports of possible shots fired around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday.

Part of Rep Friske’s campaign statement said ‘As many of us know Rep Friske is always exercising his 2ed Amendment rights’.

Evidently he took the same class in responsible gun ownership as Kyle Rittenhouse did.

He's a shoo-in.

His voters will be thinking 'Regular Guy....just like us.'

The Court isn't even trying at this point.

Forget about that "cruel and unusual punishment" thing in the Eight Amendment.

What to know about Louisiana's new surgical castration law

Louisiana is now the first state to allow surgical castration to be used as a punishment for sex crimes under a new law signed by Republican Gov. Jeff Landry. This law, which will go into effect Aug. 1, allows judges to order people found guilty of certain sex crimes against minors to undergo surgical castration.

The use of surgical castration as punishment, which is a permanent procedure that involves the surgical removal of the testicles or ovaries ostensibly to stop the production of sex hormones, is rare elsewhere around the world. The Czech Republic, Madagascar and a state in Nigeria have such laws on the books that have been strongly criticized by Amnesty International and other human rights organizations.

Several U.S. states, including Louisiana, as well as other countries have laws allowing for the use of chemical castration — a procedure that uses pharmaceutical drugs to quell the offenders' sex drive — for certain sex crimes.

Another case the far right wants to get before the SC.
The scary thing is, "What will it require for someone to have 'standing' in order to get a case before SCOTUS?".

Ooopsie. The chair of the House Freedom Caucus lost his primary.

House Freedom Caucus Chair Bob Good (R) has narrowly lost his primary in Virginia to Trump-backed challenger John McGuire, delivering the former president a victory in one of the cycle’s most tumultuous nominating contests, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Rep Good was one of the votes to boot McCarthy from the Speakership. He lost by 0.6% to a Trump backed opponent. The district, VA-5, includes Lynchburg, the home of Liberty University and the Falwell empire.

jesus...someone even worse than he was?

Probably more of the same. You're never going to get anything but Christian Nationalists out of the home of Jerry Falwell.

The important point is that the Freedom Caucus have been at each other throats for a while. MTG and company were in Good's district running against him. The Freedom Caucus just threw out their leader in retaliation for throwing out the Speaker that they took 15 ballots to election.

We should never be of the opinion that the Republicans can't or won't be defeated. They are having their own civil war inside their party. Neither side has a majority and we should be encouraging the schism of the party.

Again and again though, the GQP unite to vote the party ticket.

It is either genetic voting or that they are utterly and totally fixated on the foundations of racism, xenophobia, homo(trans)phobia, abortion and god knows what else.

They have the bifggest tent for gathering people who hate other people of any party I have ever witnessed.

At least in Canuckistan, the right does tend to splinter into shards...as does the far left and the Quebecois...so we are safe from this mass attack (usually).

It's not that the Republicans have unity. The problem is that Democrats only seem to show up every four years when there's a Presidential election and when they're "inspired" by a charismatic candidate.

Take a look at the primary numbers for VA 5:

In the Republican primary, 62,000 voters showed up.

In the Democratic primary, less than13,000 voters showed up.

It's not like there aren't Democrats in that district. These are the 2022 numbers in the general election.

Less than 10% of Democrats are voting in their primary. Republicans are getting 35% turnout in their primary.

This is why Republicans put highest priority on making it as difficult as possible to vote. Because they know that Democrats aren't inclined to show up to vote, adding more obstacles lowers Democratic turnout.

...According to the latest polls, the center-left Labor Party is almost guaranteed to come to power, winning up to 484 out of 650 seats, while only 326 are needed for a majority. The center-right, currently ruling Conservative Party will get only 64 seats. The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is expected to be Labor leader Keir Starmer...

It appears the Brexiteers are about to Brexit the building.

Here's hoping the first priority will be going to the EU and being very, very, sorry.

The sad thing is that they will not govern from strength of conviction and policy but from a some kind of conciliatory mushy position.

They won't undo the years of damage that the Conservatives have wrought because there is literally almost no way to go backwards.

The best they could do is find a middle path on Brexit and try to negotiate a new arrangement with a Europe that no longer really wants them or needs the rump of a failed empire always grousing and bitching.

But let's see.

It never ends.

...Those messages were revealed by A.J. Delgado—a former staffer on Trump’s 2016 campaign who’s embroiled in a lawsuit against the current campaign, alleging she was taken advantage of and raped by her former superior, Jason Miller...

All the best people.

Toad nominee at HHS abused people, her office and obstructed justice.

Gail Ennis, who left her post last week, repeatedly refused to steer clear of an inquiry into her leadership of an anti-fraud program that issued extraordinary fines on disabled and elderly people accused of disability benefit fraud, investigators found. The report said she obstructed the probe by refusing to be interviewed, ordering subordinates and witnesses to limit access to information, and at times seeking to mislead investigators.

Does anyone find Biden so distasteful they'd rather have these people back?
