You're confused here. Apple products might be geared towards 5 year olds, which is why I understand you prefer the product. But when it comes to actual smart phones your statement isn't true.

Its the predecessor of the DVR, except it uses things called a video cassette to record onto instead of a hard drive (or in some cases an SSD).

And to answer the question you quoted: yes, some people can instinctively operate technological equipment.

I've had a supervisor's position more than once, and with your attitude, you'd be on probation, if not fired. For starters, you don't even understand the problem -- you are setting a great example of the Microsoft approach of ignoring what customers say and telling them what to think. It's rude from a giant corporation, and it's rude from an individual.

As for the missed call icon, it's a lazy approach to a solution, the sort my sister-in-law the engineer scoffs at because it's an approach that's convenient to the designer, not to the customer.


Though for myself, I stand corrected -- it isn't because it's Android that it's a piece of shit, it's because of the third-rate programmers at Samsung. My thanks to those who've explained that.

I figured it out. It's poorly programmed -- hell, even the one Samsung tech I talked to agreed it's poorly programmed. And if you'd pay attention, several people who know a heck of a lot more than both of us combined have said it's poorly programmed.

In fact the whole batch of crap Samsung put on there seems designed to try to get people to spend more money. I want to check voicemail, they try to sell me some special service -- and that's not the only one.

I have a dumb Samsung that, aside from not being able to manually assign speed dial #s, I am comfortable with.
I use the voice dial - gets the wrong one sometimes, but usually pretty good. I found out that speaking more slowly improved the hit ratio.

I do load some e-mails on my phone - then I can e-mail pics to my e-mail account or to my wife, etc.
I can also e-mail friends a text message if need be.

That comes in handy when coordinating appts with other family members all at once.

I thought about emailing pics, but I'd rather just continue doing that with my computer as I always have. If I need to send someone a pic for discussion of something, I can attach it to a text.

I talked with a Verizon tech about the voice command thing. He's found it stupid, too, because it's crappy at recognizing any non-ordinary name or nickname -- it does things the way I deduced, i.e. it hears the speech, then goes to a dictionary, when it should go directly to the contact list. I have three contacts I dial fairly often for which I have to always hard dial; voice recognition won't work... though I have tried a few times just to see what the software tries to turn a nickname into.

Ah. One of the reasons I picked the Samsung is the ease of getting pictures from it to the PC -- plug in the cable, wait a bit, click, and done.

This phone is the best camera I've ever had.

I love the highly technical way that mine transfers..... Step one: Point phone at PC. Step two: press onscreen button to transfer pics on phone. Step 3: PC receives pics. At least that's how it used to work. Then I decided to have my phone auto-backup all new pics to my PC whenever it comes in range.
