I just never liked meat. When I was a kid it was beef, beef, beef. I hated pork chop night. Like you said, I don't like to be reminded that what's on my plate was once alive, full of skin and veins and tendons and all the weirdness that goes along with that. A lot of it has to do with OCD. Since I prepare all of my own meals, bringing raw meat into my house and preparing it makes me feel more like a veterinary surgeon than a cook. Because of this, I started buying cooked half chickens, which you have to rip apart as if you were a hyena. Then it's like: what is that red bulbous thing? What's with the grey mushy stuff? Too biological for me.

I forgot that I do eat turkey maybe once a month. I get deli turkey and make a hot open sandwich. But even then I hover over it with my reading glasses on and remove the skin, streaks of fat and everything else that doesn't look like pure white breatmeat. Again: OCD, but nevertheless, it's almost not worth it.

My oven broke many years ago and I never got it fixed. I never really cook cook so I don't need it. If I had it, I'd be making meatloaf and meatballs and baking brownies and none of that it good for you in excess, which is how I would eat it. When I made meatloaf or meatballs they were always 60% breadcrumbs and onions. Not to beefy, but light and fluffy and delicious).

I tried a veggie burger once, but...
