Too funny.

Another two-bit skank beauty pageant whore, thinking she'd get some press by attacking the gay community and saying something vague about "death" as a penalty for being gay, Lauren Ashley claimed she was "Miss Beverly Hills."

But like Christians... she wasn't being quite.... honest.

See... There IS no "Miss Beverly Hills" contest and the city of Beverly Hills was confused as to why anyone, especially a judgmental, Evangelical slut in a bikini, would be claiming they were.

*she also isn't honest about what the bible says about gay marriage. But Christians always assume that like them, nobody's actually READ the bible and they can say whatever they want about it's content.

This is just another story about an attention whore who tried to get famous and get a book deal and get on Larry King by being a Klansman. Fuck her boney ass.

I should've known before. It was hard to swallow, since Beverly Hills is very liberal (they voted nearly 2:1 against Prop. 8).

Jason, you know I love you, right? But you're being way wrong here by using the word 'Christian' as if it meant 'right-wing televangelist'.

I'm pretty sure that's the kind you grew up around, but it's far from universal. The church where I sing every Sunday hangs a rainbow flag above the entrance for the entire month of June (and it's NOT just lip service); they also were the site of the ordination of the first openly-gay Episcopal priest.

I'm Pagan, but not all Christians are like this ridiculous self-aggrandizing moron. Please don't tar the good ones with the same brush. They don't deserve it, and the error undermines your point.

Just adding the word 'many' before the word 'Christian' would fix it IMO.

If you check "disable smilies in text" you can get 8) to show as an eight and a paren.

She can be the "Christian" litmus test. The same way Beverly Hills denounces her, it would be on the christian to either acknowledge affiliation with her views or denounce her stance as un-christian. Easy to see who stands where...

I don't agree with this pattern where people have to either denounce someone or have it be assumed they support them. I think we have enough denunciations in our society. But I'm a gentle soul (mostly), so maybe I'm too softhearted.

However, I must say that when Pat Robertson said that thing he said about Haiti (that they'd made a deal with the Devil when they won their freedom and God was punishing them with the Earthquake), the pastor of the church where I sing every week shook his head and said "he's not a Christian." But Miss Liar is no Pat Robertson. Can't denounce everyone who says something hateful and calls it Christianity.

Perhaps denounce was a strong word, how about define. How about Christians defining just what they believe. Then maybe we wouldn't have people like the one in the OP who are just bumping gums in the name of the Lord.

In Jasun's defense, Jack, the two groups identified in the Prop 8 vote in California who actively sought to withhold the rights of gays were defined specifically by their religiosity and/or conservative political ideology. Those two groups were responsible for voting down gay rights. So, while Jasun's post may have contained some generalisations, it's very fair to point out that religion is a primary factor in the restriction of gay rights in the US. It's inevitable that Christians will raise the ire of gays while they actively seek to withhold rights from gays.

And, also in Jasun's defence, this IS a gay porn site - what better place to pimp his business? :-)

There's no central authority that defines what is and is not Christianity (Pope Rat very much to the contrary). Christianity is not monolithic. People believe different things and all call themselves Christians.

For example, Roman Catholics, churches in the Anglican Communion (including the Episcopal Church), and the Eastern Orthodox believe in Apostolic Succession (that is, that the authority of a priest comes from his (or her) ordination by a bishop, who was ordained by a bishop, who [many repetitions] was ordained by one of Christ's apostles, who were given their authority by Christ himself); Protestants, in general, do not. Is one of those more Christian than the other?

There's also an advantage (to our side!) in not being exclusionary about the Christianity of people on the other side: Christians on our side (and there are a LOT of them) can reason with them, remonstrate with them, sometimes change their minds...because they are all Christians together. "I'm a Christian too, and I don't think God hates anyone" is a much more persuasive statement, to a self-identified (however misguided) Christian than any I could make.

If someone preaches Prosperity Gospel, they're not Christian (Matthew 19:24)--or at any rate that's not justified by Christianity. The same is true of statements like Pat Robertson's about Haiti (Luke 13:4). But our Christian friends have a much better chance of drawing people away from these false teachings if they can do it as fellow Christians.

So have you emailed the lady in the OP yet and asked her not to kill you? Or explained to her how her comment is inflammatory? Or do you agree with her?

So because I'm a Christian I'm a liar?
I guess because your gay that makes you a pedophile and a sissy.

Generalizations are fun.

See, this is exactly what I'm cautioning him against.

I would respectfully submit, however, that my arguments are more likely to sway him than yours. Aren't you all supposed to turn the other cheek and stuff? I mean, "block and hit back" is the Pagan way, but I thought Christians were taught to be nicer than us!

(*8*)

I think maybe you missed something. I'm not a Christian at all. She doesn't care what I think. Fortunately, since she has no power over me, I don't care what she thinks either. If she fell off a cliff and broke into bloody shreds, I'd gloat a little (I'm NOT a Christian!) and move on, but that's about it.

Well, except the vast majority of pedophiles are straight and we all know that.

The vast majority of Christians... well..

As far as sissy goes.. you say that as if it's a bad thing.
