This will really get our Canuck friend s Rotary Wankeled and put him
into a tailspin.
This is an immediate kill. no good for the nest kill but instant infest kill.
One spray bottle, add water (tap is ok lol) add enough Dawn dish soap
to make water look like Windex. Better, faster than raid or even holistic
vinegar it is immediate....can't be as painful as smashing them....it is NOW.

Seems messy to spray soapy water around - depending on where they are. Vinegar and Windex also work for the local kill. For the nest kill - I know people who've had more success with Terro than other brands. The natural repellents do work as a barrier - my neighbors used cinnamon (see earlier post for more). So it's a three-pronged attack. Plus - wipe the chemical trails they leave for each other. I think I used vinegar.
Cicadas - love 'em, since they stayed in the woods and gardens, not getting everywhere. Cool to look at and listen to.

sorry eLMER Joan, a slighty soapy counter cleans up very easily
and it pisses me off to bite into a fresh oatmeal chocolate chip
with raisin and walnuts cookie only to find I am sharing it.
Besides, I used all the vinegar cleaning windows and the cinnamon

Killing an infestation is one thing, but killing something to get some laughs on youtube is a bit offish.So I just picked that up today...Followed the instructions and used all six traps. Let's see if they work! *rubs hands and cackles*
Yeah yeah, flattery will get you nowhere. =P

I've always found ants and the comparison of ant societies to human societies fascinating. I had an infestation of little black sugar ants that swarmed the cat food dish once. You couldn't see the cat food for the quarter-inch thick layer of ants on top of it. Didn't bother the cats in the least; they just ate anyway.

Never stopped any I've ever seen. Frak, there are ants' nests in the dunes here!
Worst ant problem I ever had was in Indiana. I was living in a 'cottage' with three dozen guys, and we started having ants invade the first floor common area. After a rather messy night of partying, a friend and I told everyone we'd clean up. Since trash had drawn them before, what we did was pick up all the dry stuff, sweep the wet, sticky, or munchy into a heap, then mopped the rest of the floor.
Next morning, there was a trail of ants over an inch wide running from that heap to a spot on the baseboard. Outside, a ways from that spot on the baseboard, the trail emerged and followed a crack down the foundation and headed off across the yard.
We sprayed the inside horde, sealed the baseboard, sprayed the outside horde, sealed the foundation, and sprayed back almost to the nest. Just now I can't remember if we sprayed the nest, but either way they never bothered us again.
I've used that trick since on ants that tend to focus on a major food source instead of lots of scouting and foraging. Sugar ants aren't so focused.

Ants can be pests, can't they? Thankfully I'm not too bothered by them - the rare infestations I get are always small enough to be easily managed. And the big venomous ants never come inside. Anyone who's been stung by one of the big Australian bull-ants never wants to repeat the experience.
