Anyone else have a thing for Horror movies?

Yep, as you can probably tell, I'm a big fan of old horror films. I like all the Dracula and Frankenstein films and just about anything with Vincent Price in it, including:

I saw the remake of "Friday the 13th" the other night..It was decent..

The remake of "The Texas chainsaw Massacre" was the best Horor Thriller in the last 9yrs..Hands-Down...That guy running and chasing people was the high-light...

wouldn't say the BEST...but again, i think it's totally underrated. i do hate that it kinda made me like Jessica Biel a lil' bit.

Okay Will...In your opinion what horror Flick has stood out in the last 9yrs?

Now I WILL admit "The Hills Have Eyes parts 1 & 2" were Damn Good...

"The Descent" really stood out for me. one of the best i'd seen in awhile.

Hmmm.....Is that the one where the Lesbians get stuck in a Cave and they get attacked one by one by these cave dwelling mutants?

Does anyone remember the movie "The Children of Ravensback"? That movie was creepy. Starts out with the school bus going around and picking up all the kids and it drives thru some toxic cloud and all the sudden the children become zombie like and their finger nails turn black. Then when the go to hug someone the person they are hugging starts smoking and they cook and turn all nasty and die? I think at the end a lady gives birth in the top of a barn or something and the baby has black finger nails. Really remember that one as a B movie as a kid... they showed it on USA Groovy Movie Saturdays. Remember Captain USA and "lefty".

spent years looking for that movie. finally it on Netflix a couple years ago. lol...don't remember Captain USA or Groovy Movie Saturdays though. i do remember Up All Night with Rhonda Shears.

Have to admit, I am a great fan of Horror, equally keen on watching current horror as well as the old, the b/w films with distorted sound had an atmosphere all their own.

I saw "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" this week...

This 1988 movie is a mad comedy-horror.

Enjoy the invasion of a small town by intergalactic clowns coming from outer space to wreak havoc...

IT'S CRAAAZY!

^^^^^^^^

I know! It's such an awesome B movie huh! LOL I love it. Love the music video for it too!!! "Killer Klowns from Outer Space - by The Dickies"

Cheesy horror movies aren't the only things under the "horror" genre.

I love, LOVE psychological horror movies. Anything that's really, truly disturbing and leaves a lasting impression.
Same here.

I can't stand movies that have to rely on sudden noises or things appearing in order to "scare" the audience. That's not scary, that's startling. Learn the difference. It also pisses me off when a character is in a scary place and calling out their friend's name and then, all of a sudden, their friend is right there, yet they didn't reply as their friend was calling for them. What kind of dick would do that? Clearly you need new friends.

When shit like that goes down in a horror movie, I turn it off. I want to be legitimately horrified by horror movies.

I like horror movies, but I find most lately really unsatisfying. Yes, there are jumps, surprises, and scares, but too many are equating horror with gore. Too many "scary" movies are just now 96 minutes of pure torture and mutilation filled with stupid soulless characters.

I walked out of the new Halloween by Rob Zombie about 25 minutes into it. I found it depressing and gruesome. Utterly pointless and sickening.

I want old fashion scares and suspense.

H.P. Lovecraft's Re-animator (1985) and Stage Fright : Aquarius (1987) gave me nightmares when I was younger... and still. Both films are cult and worth to be seen. Clive Barker's Hellraiser (1987) is a masterpiece too.

if i'd have paid to see Halloween...i'd have been pissed!!! GODDAMN, that Zombie butchered that shit. the sequel will probably be worse.

I really like some horrors and really don't like others. I'm not a huge fan of gore/blood, so count out most of those movies.
I like most of the Halloweens (even the off-beat 3rd one).
I watched the entire Hellraiser series last year, and they are some strange movies. I think a few of them were okay, but some were just awful. I know these movies are pretty graphic, but they're so cheesy that it doesn't bother me.
Like the Exorcist for the most part. (2nd one wasn't too great though).
And there are some random stand-alones that I like. I never really got into Friday the 13th or Elm Street too much.

I only like the good horror movies.. aka the ones that actually try to be scary. I can't stand the ultra B-rated garbage lol Even though almost all of the horror flicks I made in the past ranked lower than the B rated trash. lmao

I guess I can only appreciate the true horror film.

Okay if you want to really scary old horror movies (made in Canada) then rent the following.....

The Changeling (1980)

Ghost Story
