The other possibility is to look for free translation websites with google, write an English text, translate it to Arabic, print it, and give it to them. I'll see if I can find a link.

Those things are fucking awful! I guess that's the big difference between translating and Interpreting.

I know arabic... but I am used to reading poetry and historical books, not writing stuff about washing machines.
I have no idea how's washing process in arabic.

The translations posted before are no good at all, at all.

the first one said: "(fa-la without sense) the end of the circle is before (literally) You. Put them (persons, not any stuff) in the dryer"

It sounds like an apocaliptic vision and call to murder someone and hide his body in the dryer

the second one says: "If I was consuming my country, the washing machine, You will die like a goat"

Google translations clearly don't work well when it comes to arabic

My translation would look like this:

Isbiru wa la tukhrigu malabisakum min al-ghassalah mubakiran wa-la tada'uha fi al-mugaffif wa-hiya mali'ah bi-al-ma'!

(Be patient and don't take out your clothes from the washing machine too early and don't put them in the dryer when they are full of water (mubtalla is wet, soaking I believe, but it makes no sense to say "don't put wet things in the dryer )"

Idha ta'attalat al-ghassalah aw al-mugaffif, fa-kuntum mas'uluna 'an dhalika wa-antum alladhina sa-yadfa'una thaman al-islah!

(If the washing machine or the dryer breaks, You will be responsible for it and You shall be the ones who shall pay for the repairment)

I agree but unfortunately I have to live in the same house of flats with them so I don't want to spark a war. I just want them to stop interfering with my wash more than anything else.

I don't doubt that they know how to use the machines (to an extent - cos it costs an awful lot more to dry soaking wet clothes) but they're possibly on welfare and they try to get as much out of their 2 euro in the meter as possible but what they're doing is self-defeating

I appreciate the response guys but there's a problem still left - they can't read Roman script so I need to have it in Arabic. I've caught them taking away all the mail to bring to someone else to see if they've got any because they can't even read their own name in Roman script (I didn't know that was possible)

You are right but, apart from that, the translations given seem rather funny (like "before" as "in front of ": "´maama" instead of "before" of time, "qabla"); I would need some more time but, most important, I would need to use my laptop since I don´t have arabic fonts installed in my PC, which I try to keep as clean as possible of anything I won´t use daily.

OK. I've written all that I have posted before, modifying some and adding "if You please" and "thank You" at the end, so that they wouldn't get angry. Many Arabs tend to treat every correction as a personal offence, so I don't know if it will work anyway.

at the bottom You'll see one of the words from the text. Dumb Word misses one (two) arabic fonts, waw with hamza above it. You'll have to draw little hamza (first sign under the word) just over the first waw (sign under hamza) from the right in this word manually. There are some who'd simply write this hamza on a nabra, but I don't find it correct.

You got the hamza over waw all right, except for that it should be over the waw to the right from the one You added it to.

please, move the ! from the beginning of the second verse to the end of the first one somehow also. Otherwise it will look like one arabic font (hamza under alif).

Arabic is subjective and written to sound like it is spoken. there are baseline rules, but unlike english, things change from region to country, and should always be written accordingly.

If you are going to get the guys to understand you and be motivated to react to you positively you are going to have to toss out the textbook crap and tell me exactly where they came from.

If you are not carefull you will have the efect of speaking the queens english to a chav.

they may understand you, but think you are not worth the respect of compliance. if they think you are a bossy pissy queen you will not even be noticed. they will just tear down your note and ingore that it was ever put there in the first place. Worse, they may decide its more fun to continue to annoy you, the obvious reality of what is going on right now.

and something tells me you dont really want these guys to think you are a smarmy textbook toting judgemental non arab. You want them to think that you respect them and their culture, and until you figure out where they come from, it wont happen.

if you want a resolution to this issue, you need to get to know the guys and give them a reason to respect you.
