Now I've used a Mac for 13 years, never run antivirus and never had an issue.
I can say the same.

That's your own personal perspective. I of course do not promote complacency and the myth that Macs don't get viruses. I'm not going to make this yet another Apple vs Windows based PC thread. It's really inappropriate.
Losing? No, I don't like getting infractions or warned not to take threads off topic.
What would I be losing? I already proved my point in the other thread. Take your weak trolling attempts elsewhere please.![]()
I love it when people grand stand and say "from years of my own experience"... it's your own opinion.
And? I've never had a virus on my PCs. So there!
I'm not going to get into yet another argument. I obviously know what product is superior.
And I'm saying you're simply being complacent as viruses do exist on Macs. You can take it or leave it.
I argue with facts only. It's why I won the argument in the other thread.![]()
I obviously know what product is superior.
I had to laugh.
Anyone who thinks their computer is immune from computer viruses is delusional. See the Pwn2Own competition. Although not about viruses, it shows that most computer stuff can be cracked.
These arguments are stupid because it all boils down to whatever suits you.
The reason why Mac supposedly didn't have viruses is because less people used them, it wasn't economically viable. Now since there's been a humongous exodus of computer users migrating to Apple because of its simplicity and good looks, viruses do indeed exist, hence the reason why programs like clamav monitor your systems in the background.
If you're generally incompetent, or basic with your computer usage, then Mac is the best way to go. It's great for making amateur movies or simple music mixes/updating your ipod with itunes! whee! Macs are great, especially if you have a lot of extra money to spend. The OS is pretty. But pretty comes with a price. Apple outsources their hardware, which = lower quality, higher price. Let's not even talk about their stupid intellectual property rights lawsuits, jailbreaking fiascoes. If you buy something, you should have complete ownership of it.
If you like paying less for the same or even better quality hardware (depending on what you spice it up with), PC's are the way to go. Windows 7 is not inferior to MacOS. Especially if you like playing high, graphic and cpu intensive games. With the proper antivirus, you really have to be downloading really bad porn from a really shady site onto your computer to get a virus. It's a little less user friendly, but still manageable. I won't go into detail why Microsoft is an oh-so-evil monopoly because we've all heard that story already.
Linux based OS's are the best, because they're open source and you can do the most with them, but it's harder and more complicated to learn. Recently, Ubuntu's been getting all commercial and user friendly, and it's still a better more reliable option than Mac or Windows. And that's REALLY where you don't get viruses because they can never get access to the root to do any damage! (The exception being malicious scripts)
Check out Ubuntu, it's pretty, and boot speeds are incredible. Oh wait, you can't do that on Apple because of their uptight intellectual property policies, nevermind, don't do it if you care about your warranty.
I've gone through this many times and told why it simply isn't true. You're about ten years behind when it comes to that statement. And as far as graphic design, good luck with those machines and their standard graphics cards. They aren't light years ahead of PC makers... and they haven't been in many years.
