Araucaria Appreciation Thread

Frankie, that's just it, I live in Florida, and it's still the Northern Hemisphere winter. Normally, we'd still be having a few cool days interspersed with the warm ones. But this year the temps are more like what we have in late May or so. I think it's definitely due to climate change. I hope the temps can moderate somewhat, because it's only going to get hotter, and the heat will most likely go through November. June through September is the worst. It gets blazing hot AND we get ungodly humidity.

You made the right decision to cut that friend out of your life. If someone physically abuses you, they're going to keep doing it, and the fact he never apologized means he saw nothing wrong with what he did. You don't need friends like that.

(*8*) Good afternoon, John

We have had cloudy, windy weather but no rain. Whereas the coast had a blizzard warning last week and there are communities in the San Bernardo Mountains, just east of Los Angeles, that are still snowed in.

Hello John , I see , so you live in Florida , it will definetely get scorching hot by summer there
I hope you live in a safe area , take lots of care as the weather is unpredictable cus of climate change.
In my case I always carry an umbrella even if it's sunny cus the weather has been so akward the past few years ... ( I use it to avoid the sun rays and also to protect myself from sudden rains ) Yea I'm better off alone without any male friends because it is really hard to find a real male friend in my case .
I only have a couple of real female friends who don't live in the same city but I regard them as genuine friends .

Have a fun evening Johnnie , sleep well later tonight and have a pleasant wednesday morning when you wake up

Good Wednesday Christian, Gary, and Frankie! (*8*)

Christian, I'd love to join that athlete in the showers for some fun and frolic!*|**|**|*:fellate::sex::bj::hump:

Gary, I hope you at least get some beneficial rains out of all that weather out there! Hope your doctor can do something about your balance issues.

Frankie, I'm not sure what you mean about living in a safe area, because I do live in a hurricane risk area. Luckily it's been a long time since any really bad ones have hit my area. I live at 14.3 ft above sea level, according to an old blueprint of my house. I'm 5 miles from the ocean, so I'm reasonably safe as long as we don't get a substantial sea level rise due to global warming.

Actually, the most common weather issue here is thunderstorms and quick, flooding rains. These usually happen in the rainy season, from May to October, but we can get those rains at any time of the year. The biggest danger is the lightning. We get people struck by it every year, mainly in the summer months.

Good evening, John. (*8*)
Since you talk about risks... It amazes me how you people keep living in an area with frequent hurricanes, tornadoes and floods... aren't you scared??
I guess people can get used to anything

Hi John , I 'm not a climate expert of different areas of the world . I ignored that living in Florida was that risky , but one only can hope that nothing bad will happen and keep on living life as it was our last day on earth . I hope you have a good Wednesday evening , have a cool Thursday as well

Yes, there are risks with living in Florida, but they are not overwhelming. You usually go several years without getting hit by a hurricane. In my lifetime the West Palm Beach area once went 25 year without getting hit by a hurricane, and another 15 years without getting hit. Usually you can figure on getting one once every 10 years or so. And fortunately, we haven't been hit by an especially severe one in a long long time. They're usually category 1 or 2 hurricanes, on the lower end of the scale. Fortunately we've missed the big ones, like hurricane Ian last year which hit the lower Gulf Coast, and hurricane Andrew, which hit the Miami area in 1992.

Tornadoes aren't as big a risk in Florida as they are in some parts of the South and Midwest. Florida has a lot of them, but they're usually comparatively weak and short-lived, and will usually miss your location.

Floods usually aren't as dangerous in Florida as you might think. The secret is that most of Florida is very flat. Yes, we get huge amounts of rain in a very short time, but with flat ground, the water can't get any deeper than the amount of rain that falls. In 65 years, the closest I've seen flooding rains get to my house was half way up my front yard once. I figure if my house hasn't flooded in all that time, it's not going to. Though there are some parts of Florida with a little more relief, so people that live near a river or lake may have to worry somewhat.

There are risks pretty much wherever you go. In California you have to worry about earthquakes. In much of the South and Midwest, it's tornadoes. And if you live in the Northern U. S., you have to worry about snowstorms and extreme cold. Overall, I don't think the risks of Florida living are that bad. You just have to assess the risks, and know what you're going to do if a hurricane strikes in Florida. It's the same wherever you live.

Hello John

In spite of everything the weather sounds like summer the whole year ... Many wealthy Peruvians ( and other Latin Americans ) have appartments / houses in Miami and in other parts of Florida , it must be very appealing because of its weather and water surroundings

I hope you have a pleasant evening John
:band:

Good afternoon, John. I hope you are having a good day. (*8*)
Today we have a warm and sunny day.

Hello Johnnie , I hope your weekend is fun , enjoy it :band: :-< :band:

Good Friday afternoon Christian, Paul, and Frankie! (*8*)

Christian, I might think about installing a pool, if men like him come over! And a privacy fence...*|**|**|*:bj::fellate::sex::hump:

Paul, I'm glad you're finally getting some warm weather. And don't worry about those older ladies. (I told you I'm gay-- I'm not interested in dating you!).

Frankie, I hope you have a great weekend as well!. It's incredible to see all the high-rise condos in Miami. A lot of people from Latin America and probably all over the world are moving there.

Hello Johnnie , I hope you are alright

Have a pleasant Monday later , enjoy the day !

Hello Johnnie , I hope you have a pleasant Tuesday evening . :band:

Good Thursday morning Paul, Paulll92, Frankie, and Christian! (*8*) :therethere:

Christian, it looks like that man touching himself wants me to join in!*|**|**|*:bj::fellate::sex::hump:

Paulll92, keep sending those hot studs my way, they'll keep me busy!!!*|**|**|*:bj::fellate::sex::hump:

Well, it's finally gotten cooler, with lows in the low 60s, highs only in the low 70s, cloudy, and we even got a little shower yesterday afternoon. It's supposed to get warmer, and then getting some rain and turning cooler again this weekend and next week. I guess I'd better enjoy it, since the window for the possibility of cooler weather here will be closing soon, what with the advent of spring.
