Merry Christmas Gary, Frankie, RM, Thad, and and everybody! (*8*)

Thanks for the pic, Frankie! That stud looks like he's ready to play. *|*

And thanks for the gif of that naughty elf, RM! He is so fuck-me-now. *|*

Gary, I hope you're over your flu and you're feeling well.

Thad, enjoy your quiet day until you go out and become active.

Well, I plan to have a quiet Christmas today, which should be good. I got invited to a Christmas Eve party across the street, but I had to leave early and come back later, because the pastor at MCC asked me to do a reading during their service yesterday evening. I could hardly say no. It was a nice service. Saturday night the Venezuelan lady had me over and gave me athletic shorts for Christmas. It seems lately she's gone crazy over this stupid telenovela involving a young American guy in love with this muslim girl living somewhere in the Middle East, but her family wants to sell her to another man for marriage, and some doctor who wants to clone a baby, and with them throwing every possible complication in, of course.

Merry Christmas, John!
I hope you enjoyed a quiet Christmas day.

My mum and her neighbors watch that kind of telenovelas, too :ROFLMAO:

Hello Johnnie , it's great to know you've had a pleasant Xmas weekend

That Soap Opera sounds like a remake of a Brazilian Soap called " El Clon " which was very popular 21 years ago haha

Have a Pleasant Evening My friend

Merry Christmas!

Telenovelas are not stupid! In 1980 my ex introduced me to his friend Lucy Boscana, a Puerto Rican actress known for her acting in telenovelas. She also did theater work in Puerto Rico and New York.

Lucy passed away in 2001.

Oh, wait, a lot of things have become stupid in the last 20 years.

The best telenovela ever was the original "ugly Betty" from Colombia. It was anyting but stupid:

Merry day after Christmas Paul, Thad, Frankie, Dan, Alistair, and Andrew! (*8*)

Frankie, I think you hit the nail on the head. The telenovela the Venezuelan lady is watching is known as El Clon, and seems to be a remake of the Brazilian soap you described. In this version the story happens in Miami, with the affair between the Cuban American boy and the Muslim girl happening somewhere in the Middle East, I started calling the place Marrakech. Here is this young man visiting this girl, the only person he knows there, living with her family in this tightly controlled society, having an affair with her. Yeah, right. And back in Miami his parents are seeing this doctor who wants to create a clone, presumably because his brother died in an aircraft accident. And somehow the father gets into this shouting match with the doctor, over what, I don't know. I cannot follow rapidly spoken Spanish.

Generally I have found American soap operas annoying, with their contrived conflicts and overplaying every situation, obsessing over squeezing everything for its emotional appeal. I get tired of feeling they're jerking me around. So it's hardly surprising that I readily adopted similar views of telenovelas. Thad, it's interesting that you met the actress Lucy Boscana. One thing that has impressed me about soaps is that they can provide stable careers for some actors, who don't have to worry, as opposed to many other actors, who can only do well while they're "hot." Paul, I'm going to have to check out Ugly Betty, which has received many accolades.

I had a good Christmas yesterday, but by afternoon I developed an upset stomach and GI tract issues, probably as a result of eating dinners the couple of nights before. So right now I'm on a liquid diet until this thing clears up, which will probably be in a day or two.

Good evening, John. I hope you are feeling better.
Today I'm the one with an upset stomach, nothing serious.

Good Saturday afternoon/evening, Paul, Paulinthe closet, and Thad! (*8*)

Sorry you have an upset stomach Paul. I hope that clears up soon. My stomach problems cleared up a couple of days ago, and I'm eating normally.

And Thad, sorry you have a cold, though I'm glad it's getting better. Enjoy your Mummers parade.

Welcome, Paulinthecloset! That's really nice what you said, and I see that's your first post on Just Us Boys. I'm flattered. You're the fourth Paul I've encountered on here, not to mention that I have a fictional character named Paul in a story I posted in the Gay Stories Forum. And no, he's nothing like any of the other Pauls, so I don't mean him to be like anyone on here.

^That's really nice underwear! I don't like the cap, though.

What the heck happened at the Orange Bowl? Did FSU want to prove their season was a fluke and the NCAA playoff selections were 100% spot-on?

I was very very lazy today and did not go out at all. This is how I act when I'm depressed. But I'm NOT.
