Araucaria Appreciation Thread

Good Friday morning, Frankie and Gary! (*8*)

Yeah, I have to admit that I'm not sure how my Gators will do at Kentucky. The game used to be pretty much a gimme for them, as they won 30-something in a row. But Kentucky has suddenly become a problem for Florida in the last few years or so, and I'm not sure how this game will go, especially since it's an away game.

Notre Dame should win on Saturday rather easily. I really haven't paid much attention to gauge the USC vs. Colorado game, except sports commentators (or at least the ESPN sportscasters) had high praise for Colorado until they got their butts handed to them by Oregon last week.

Frankie, it is rather hard for introverts to get to meet people. At least in my case, I've noticed that since I tend to be quiet and polite, a lot of people seem to assume I'm dull and uninteresting. But if they bothered to talk to you and get to know you, they'd find out what a great person you are. Oh well, their loss.

Hello Johnnie
May you have a fun and cool weekend buddy
(UU)

I should go out tomorrow. It's the last weekend of the Philly Fringe festival which is chock-a-block with performances, many with LGBT themes. I did go to one performance before my trip.

Have you gone, or are you going, to any of the opera in the O23 festival (which sometimes does co-productions with Philly Fringe)?

We saw Ten Days in a Madhouse and Unholy Wars last Saturday.

(*8*) Good evening, John.

That Gator game was disappointing. And USC was lucky, 45-41. Miss Foxy will be sad. Her lads were playing with only 9 men due to red cards. They battled hard and it was a 1-1 draw until the last minute of extra time when Tottenham scored. :(

Now I will hope my Holy Men will defeat Duke.

Beautiful day here. Clear and windy, 90F.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend, John! (*8*)

I didn't see opera. I did see a dance performance, "Fix Me," which impressed me. It's a two-man show. The dancers were quite strong and flexible. I was never bored. One of the guys was a volleyball player in Egypt; the other is a Jewish acrobat from Philadelphia. They're taking the show to Egypt.

Good Sunday morning Thad, RM, Gary, Matthew, Paul, and Frankie! (*8*)

Well, it was a bad day for my Gators  Gary, your Holy Men sure pulled that game out at the end, and USC held on after it looked like they were going to blow out Colorado early. Hope you have a good pew duty day.

Wow, you guys are talking about lots of stuff I'm not too familiar with. Sports across the pond, soccer, or is it rugby? Opera at the O23 Festival and dance performances in the Northeast. Actually, all that's good for me, in that it gives me lots of things to check up on, and expand my knowledge base. (y)

Gary, it sounds like your weather is now better than it is over here. It's been muggy, high 91 and very humid yesterday. This morning it's 82 with a dew point of 77 and 85% humidity. We're under a flash flood watch, we're supposed have two inches of rain or more today, but right now the sun is shining and no sign of rain. I hope it's not raining when I go out to MCC this morning. I have to drive busy I-95, and I hate to do it when it's raining. It's supposed to get "slightly cooler,"(88 degree highs, 72 degree lows by the end of the week), but the wind is supposed to pick up tomorrow and precipitation chances continue through the week.

(*8*) Good morning, John.

All I have to say about the Notre Dame game is tearing hair.png My old heart is not up to that stress.

Last night our low was 62F and I slept with the bedroom window and the a/c off. The high will be in the 80s the next few days, rising into the high

90 s. Humidity is low.

Off to pew duty.

You've reminded me how vitally important college football is.

I went to Temple, in Philadelphia. They have a top-level football program and have bowl appearances in good seasons. Few people care. The pro 🏈 game owns this area.

Hello Johnnie
I hope that you have a cool and fun New Week
thanks for writing buddy

Take care
 (UU)

Good Thursday morning Frankie, Thad, and Gary! (*8*)

The Gators are playing Vanderbilt this weekend, so that should be a win for them. They seem to have a tendency to come out a bit flat in that game for some reason. They used to play this game the week after the Georgia game, so a bit of a letdown after playing a huge rival was a bit understandable. But I'm not sure what it is now. Thad, I'm not sure what it is, but it seems that college football doesn't get quite the emphasis in the Northeast, particularly on the East Coast.

Gary, it sounds like your weather is getting better than it is in Florida. Actually we've had an improvement here, though it's subtle. The highs have dropped into the upper 80s, we now have a good breeze blowing, and the big thunderstorms have gone away, with only occasional ocean showers. I haven't checked the schedule, so I don't know who your Holy Men, or anyone else for that matter, is playing this Saturday.

Hello Johnnie
May you have a cool and fun Friday later

 :rb:

Hi John!

This is the part where I swear to our undying friendship. And you giggle and consider putting me on "ignore."

Don't do it. (Well, giggle. That's always good.)

(*8*) Good afternoon, John

We have heated up again. Yesterday and today over 105F, dropping to high 90s tomorrow.

Your gator.gifshould have an easy win tomorrow, the same for USC. However, the Holy Men are 60-40 to win which worries me. :(

My friends have returned home, so this weekend I will be alone after a week of visitors bringing free food.

Enjoyed the return of Battlebots for the new season yesterday. And the pizza Wayne brought.

Time to do some house cleaning and silver polishing. Hope your weekend will be enjoyable.

Good Saturday afternoon Frankie, Thad, Paul, Gary, and RM! (*8*)

Yes Thad, I consider us friends, swearing is unnecessary. BTW, you said in another thread that you have a parrot. What kind, and how long have you had her? Is she sweet and does she give you kisses, etc.? And I suppose you have someone take care of her when you take your trips.

Gary, I'm hoping my Gators will do well, and good luck to your Holy Men. Too bad the heat has returned to the desert, I guess it will be a good day to stay in the AC.

RM, that cowboy can come dance on my front lawn any day. I'd invite him in to get a cool drink, and ask him if he wants a roll in the hay. *|*:bj::fellate::69::sex:

It's been rather hot again here, with temps back up to 90 and high humidity. I went out to cut all the weeds away that had overgrown my Jamaica Brunsfelsia (very fragrant white tubular blooms, I think I might have posted a pic somewhere on JUB once) over the summer. I'd been putting it off for months because it was too hot. Well, I got out this morning and did the job, but I got very hot and sweaty, but at least the job is done.

She adores John, but she likes me. She's very vocal, but squeaks and squawks, no words. She does do a mean bomb whistle!
John has had her for a long time.
