Araucaria Appreciation Thread

Hello Johnnie it's great to see you back again

I hope you can keep on posting , It must be beautiful( I know it's hard work ) to have a roomy garden like yours . The atmosphere of such a home must smell so pleasant cus of the fruits , the tree flowers ...

Have a pleasant Saturday later My Friend

:rb: (UU) :rb:

Hey Frankie! (*8*)

Yes, it's nice to have the fragrant fruits on my table, waiting for me to eat them. The blossoms on the trees are nice, but most of those I have now aren't particularly fragrant. The mango blossoms have a distinctly meaty odor, which I find neither particularly pleasant nor unpleasant. The carambola/starfruit blossoms are tiny, pretty purple and white, with a sweet fragrance, but not very strong. The sugar apple/sweetsop has a banana-like odor. The sapodilla blossoms have a peculiar odor, which I'd rate slightly unpleasant, but not that big of a deal.

These days it's mostly the other flowers which are most fragrant. The Jamaican Brunsfelsia has a powerful, intoxicating fragrance in the evening when it's in bloom. I also have a crinum lily which is very fragrant. And I have spider lilies, and a couple of varieties of wild jasmine around.

But the most fragrant are the orange blossoms, with an incredible, powerful fragrance. I used to smell them when I'd drive across the state, from the backyard trees in West Palm, through the commercial groves in Central Florida to Tampa and back. I can't grow them anymore, due to citrus greening wiping them out in the state. What a shame.

Well, I had to pay big bucks to get a tree service to trim my palmettos. They were against the house, and it seems that a wild jasmine vines grew up in them to prevent the dead fronds and debris from falling cleanly. I also had them remove a schefflera that grew up in the palmettos, and a second schefflera in my front yard that was dying. That's mystifying, since I've never known them to die. They're always so vigorous that you have to cut them back or get rid of them because they've overtaken their space.

Hello Johnnie , your garden sounds so diverse . If I lived in the same area , it would be a really fun experience to get to know it in person

Thanks for writing to me buddy

Have a pleasant Sunday

(*8*) Good afternoon, John

Well, your Gators started well with that opening touchdown, but then George was just too powerful. crocodle tears.jpg

My Holy Men brought the rath of God down upon Pitt. USC beat Cal with a last second touchdown. The big disappointment was the 49er's third lost in a row. (they sure have a Puuuurdy quarterback :drool:)

Your guys should have a victory next week against Arkansas.

The heat has gone away. Yesterday there were high winds (35+) with a wind chill in the low fifties. Right now, we are at 68F. Hope there are no more heat waves in our immediate future.

Hope you have a good week.

Good Monday evening Gary, Frankie, Paulll92, RM, and Andrew! (*8*)

Well, the Gator game went pretty much as I feared. Let's hope they beat Arkansas, because after that nothing's easy on their schedule. Gary, your Holy Men and USC did well. That wind chill is a bit too cold for me, though it sounds like your heat is over.

Frankie, yes, I'm lucky to live in a place where I have a tremendous amount of tropical and subtropical trees, plants, and fruits to choose from. The problem is that I want to grow it all!

I posted about my adventure this afternoon in the Covid thread over in hot topics. The new covalent vaccine is supposed to be free, right? Apparently not with my Medicare Part D Provider! The pharmacy was on the phone for about 50 minutes trying to straighten it out, but it turned out that I would have to pay $184 and change if I wanted it. Oh, but they did cover the HSV and Flu vaccine, but only the small dose Flu variety, not the larger senior dose, which at 65 I'm supposed to be eligible for. So I got the two shots, but not the Covid one I went it for! *%%*:grrr:

BTW Gary, check out the story I posted in Gay Stories, with five characters based on the picture of these guys.

(*8*) Good afternoon, John.

I never had ventured into the Back Rooms. I went there looking for your stories. I like what I have read so far. (y)

There is so much in that section, I will be busy for a while.

Hello Johnnie , thanks for writing
I hope you're having a great evening buddy

Good Thursday morning Paulll92, Frankie, RM, Gary, and Andrew! (*8*)

RM, I'd like to have that horny Viking in my bed! And Paulll92, I'd like to have that stud serve me Thanksgiving dinner, and hope he doesn't turn out to be a turkey!

Frankie, I hope you're doing OK.

Gary, I'm glad you're enjoying the stories I posted. If you have any suggestions as to who you'd like to see do what to who, let me know. I can't guarantee I'll incorporate them, but sometimes people have really interesting or unusual ideas about what turns them on, and they can be pretty hot.

Well, I think I'm going to try again for the Covid vaccine next week, maybe at another pharmacy. Following up with the info KaraBulut posted, it looks like the shot should be covered by Medicare Part B, not Part D, as they were trying to do. I'm surprised they didn't know that, especially since the company has been advertising free Covid shots. Probably what I'll do is call ahead to the place I decide to get the shot from, so they'll have the coverage all straightened out before I get there.

Hello Johnnie , thanks for your wishes buddy

I also hope to meet a nice fella someday ... :luv2:

I will do my best not to stumble and fall like I did in the recent past , this time I am being drastic and I ain't getting involved with those phony pricks anymore ( I managed to keep my distance for almost 5 years , and this time it will be permanent )

I hope that you have a pleasant Thursday evening and a Cool Friday later

 (UU)

(*8*) Good morning, John

I have been busy trying to get repairs completed around the house. Still having trouble with the master toilet. Now it finally flushes well sSic_toilet.gif, but the tank is now leaking. They guy will be coming over soon to try to fix it - again.

I did fine parts for my water softener. It is made in Phoenix by a small company and has no name, only a model number. Searched the Model number and found parts on eBay. The replacement timer modular arrives next week.

Good luck with your Gators. I see they a 60% favorite. The Holy Men are slightly favored over Clemson and Washington over USC :(

I am enjoying sleeping with the bedroom window open and no a/c. The highs are still around 80, but the nights in the 50s.

Did you finally get the Covid shot sorted? My doctor advises against it.

Well now on to some housekeeping.

](*,) Not a good day for our teams. Your Gators almost pulled in off. They fought well. My Holy Men did not look all that great. Well, I hope USC can win this evening.

So, USC lost also. :(

The leak in the toilet tank got fixed today, but now the new flapper valve won't stay in place. It just won't let me win. :##:
