thanks for the post guys - from one who's never likely to see them down this way on my island

LOL! Great sentence. :)

As miaedu aptly noted, your writing was evocative and really put us there. Thanks for that! I loved reading it. ..|

Awww, thanks trinket and your welcome.

I should note that I had a very nice experience at the MGMT concert I saw Tuesday night at Radio City Music Hall. About the 3rd song in I noticed that there was an older gay couple just 2 rows in front of me, they were holding hands, rubbing each others backs and put there heads on each others shoulders and kissed several times, it was so sweet and they were just soooo cute together. It really warmed my heart because I'm old enough to remember a time when such a public display of same sex affection would just never happen, but that night nobody batted an eye, It's great how far we've come.

MGMT were great btw.

Looking forward to seeing them perform on the Grammy Awards.

Arcade Fire unplugged still sounds a whole lot like regular Arcade Fire, it turns out. The band is in L.A. to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, and while in town, they took the opportunity to record an acoustic session for the L.A. radio station KROQ. They played unplugged versions of the Suburbs songs "Month of May" and "Ready to Start". Watch the video below, via We All Want Someone to Shout For. It's fun to watch them all clustered in a tight circle in the studio, like they're hyping themselves up for a big game.

Also, as the band's website points out, they'll play a special last-minute all-ages show tonight in L.A. at a secret location. And as Consequence of Sound points out, Spike Jonze's 30-minute Arcade Fire short film Scenes From the Suburbs will screen at SXSW next month. The film, a continuation of his video for their song "The Suburbs", is set to debut tomorrow at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Arcade Fire Rock Out at Tiny Pre-Grammys Show

To gear up for their Grammy Awards performance, Arcade Fire decided to put on a show that was decidedly more low-key, but no less enthusiastic than Sunday's will undoubtedly be: a last-minute gig at the Ukrainian Culture Center of Los Angeles. The show attracted around 500 hardcore fans, some of whom had camped out Thursday night to score tickets at one of three purchase points in LA, and who accompanied the band's 90-minute set with frenzied choral-singing, fist-pumping and foot-stomping.

Ha Ha that is Hilarious..
"Who the fuck are Arcade Fries"
->"I don't know but they sound delicious"

Ah those poor fools! :D But they do sound, well em 'delicious'

Not the biggest fan of award shows myself.

The Suburbs is probably my most listened to album last year. Saw them live twice last year too and they blew me away. Awesome ..|

I love the two previous albums too. And Intervention is a favourite of mine, I still remember the scene it was played in, in the first series of Prison Break!

I only got into Arcade Fire massively at the start of last year !oops!, then probably listened to them too much. Luckily the National brought an album out to distract me for a bit!

It's always good to listen to lots and lots of different stuff, so you don't ruin a band on yourself!

Even though "Funeral" remains my favorite Arcade Fire album I was very pleased "The Suburbs" was named Album of the Year.
