are democrats going to seize the moment?

...He has decided not to be the best partner in his own mental or physical health and it is time for others to exert actual influence to get him to step aside.
I had hopes for Fetterman. It would have been great to have someone in Congress who could represent people with disabilities, much like Max Cleland or Tammy Duckworth. He started out well with his openness about his mental health struggles and how it impacted him and his family.

But it seems that the stroke has left him with ongoing mental health issues that are likely too much for someone in the Senate. There are Senators who are less than adequate but they have strong staffs who ensure that the work gets done. Fetterman is losing staff at an alarming rate and the staff members who are leaving are raising the red flag that he's not competent.

He probably would have been gone by now if the Democrats weren't afraid that he would pull a reverse Arlen Specter and jump parties to become a Republican.

I hate to say it, but this is not the time for a big fight to remove him from office—if that's even possible.

I would definitely agree...but I would hope that his own health and life aren't the price paid.

The Dems should definitely be looking for the strong candidate to replace him, because I am not sure he'll last his entire term.

Can you get dementia from a stroke? I suppose it sounds plausible. I don't know anything about medicine, but the politics of it, unfortunately, are decidedly clear. I'm also sure Shapiro is watching and has someone in mind.

You definitely can...there are many cases where post stroke patients develop vascular dementia..which I think we may be witnessing here.

The Democratic Party's favorability rating has dropped to just 29%—a record low in CNN's polling history dating back to 1992.

Jeffries and Schumer.

Abandoning any kind of real fight to save democracy or work on behalf of Americans.

I heard that in a report that said that the Republicans' favorability rating is at 22%. That caught my attention because it means that between the two paristies parties they barely have a majority of Americans approving of either one!
Since between the two they don't even have a majority of voters, it's past time for a new party.

Schumer on the Democratic response to Trump's shakedown of Harvard:

"We sent him a very strong letter just the other day asking eight very strong questions."

And this is why the Dems look complicit or ineffective at best.

That sounds like a diplomat at the U.N. who isn't really taking a position, just flapping lips.

Schumer should have made a statement saying "We're done with this shit."

Yeah, it can be bad; a pastor I knew had a stroke and afterwards pretty much couldn't form new memories.

^ Not to derail the thread, but I have seen first hand how the loveliest and happiest people became depressed and negative and even violent after a stroke, while some of the most depressed and negative people had a complete personality re-set...like my one grandmother.

Current Dems in “power” are feckless and weak - Schumer + Jeffries haven’t a pulse much less a clue

It’s up to the “I don’t give a fuck” crew of Bernie, AOC - those who bring the direct message of the USA turning into an oligarchy.

Pritzker recent speech was direct

Chris Murphy has done some good oratorical work

Meanwhile Rome burns

I would have to say Bernie and AOC care very much. Some Democrats are just useless, but they are primarily center-right politicians from center-right constituents and act like it. Those guys are not betraying their constituencies or out of touch; that is who elected them.

As much as I might like it, we DO NOT live in a Socialist Liberal country, and the fault for that lies with us on the Left. For decades, we ignored a vast swath of the US - people who were the base of FDR's New Deal. We've sneered at them, called them names, called them ignorant, and never tried to rectify that, ignored them, and wouldn't listen to them. If you ask those populations about policies on the left, like Universal Healthcare stripped of its political jargon, a considerable proportion of the people who don't vote Left agree with it.

What have we done on the Left to organize that support?

What have I done?

What have you done?

In the end, we are all personally responsible for this mess—all of us.

^ This is all so true.

What I have come to realize is that after a certain population count, it is likely that people mjust check out.

That mathematics makes the difference.

It is almaost like Newtonian physics is a factor.

There is a PhD in this hypothesis. But too old and too exhausted to care,

His stroke affected his speech processing.

Fetterman is on medications for his atrial fibrillation, his stroke and for depression. It's hard to know whether his behavioral issues and reckless behavior is from the stroke or from the medications.

What is interesting is that after all of his medical issues and a stroke that has damaged his ability comprehend speech, suddenly he's moved from a populist left politician to a populist right politician. 🤔

...“So there’s a lot of people that are like, ‘You know what? Let’s go find the safest white boy we can find,’” Crockett continued. “I mean, I’m just saying.”...

I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

Fucking Democrats.

Misogyny is stronger than racism. Hillary proved that, then Kamala, and while I would love to vote for a female president, that election was too important to gamble with and now look where the fuck we are,

I don't want a "safe" white boy, though; I want an aggressive pick who is unashamed of being left, with a running mate that's equally aggressive. The ticket last time should have been Pete on top, and Shapiro at V.P.

Some people change dramatically with stroke; he needed to step down an age ago.

Why do people always seem to turn right when they start to lose it?

There's people losing it who move to either extreme.

The far right, however, seems to have a special appeal to straight men who are unhappy with their lot in life... or who have been paid to get fucked on camera, it seems.
