  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Are there any celebrity chefs/personalities you like watching?

I like the Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show. Nine out of ten cooking shows on television are completely useless.

So many I enjoy.
The Two Fat Ladies My all time favorites. Highly entertaining (I have the complete series on disc)

Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) She's a nice lady and her voice is relaxing

Guy Fieri (Dinners, Drive Ins and Dives) His enthusiasm is wonderful and he's funny

Jamie Oliver (Naked Chef/Oliver's Twist and all the rest which followed were a lot of fun)

Alton Brown (loved the Good Eats series, very informative)

David Rocco (He's entertaining but also extremely sexy to watch)

Julia Child Amazing

Then there are the controversial gals, Martha Stewart, Paula Deen and Nigella Lawson
I enjoyed them until the controversies. I still enjoy Martha if she's doing a holiday show.

Bobbie Flay with his BBQ/grilling series.

Anne Burrell is one helluva chef imo, and fun to watch too.

Nadia G......I discovered her show 'Bitchin Kitchen' by accident while flicking through the channels, she is Canadian but comes across as a hard core New Yorker, cooks good food but simple recipes and is actually entertaining almost a cross of Abbey (NCIS) Nigella Lawson and 'the Nanny' LOL

In what way?

We watched his first show for awhile, but we took to calling it the "Bite, Nod and Point Show". It seems every time he tries the food ta one of the restaurants, he takes a bite...then nods and points to it. We found that kinda funny. Don't hate the guy, but lost interest in the show.

Apparently, he's wanted to change his hair for the last half-decade, but the network won't let him.

Alton Brown, Bobby Flay, Anne Burrell, some days I like watching Giada, and Claire Robinson. I used to watch Rachel Ray all the time but I need a break from her.

used to love watching Alton Brown's Good Eats show

loved the Food Network too.....before it turned into reality type shows

Love the repeats of The Two Fat Ladies and Keith Floyd, great tv but i don't think i'd chance eating any of their stuff.

I see. I plan on trying his food next time I go to Vegas. His place there seems to be liked.

Arguably the best dining city on the West coast.

Try the blue cheese wasabi cinnamon whisky buffalo sauce chicken wings.

Ina Garten.

I can't stand her recipes, but it's interesting to watch her put such unhealthy crap in her recipes and pass them off as healthy.

I would have watched The Naked Chef, but the title of the show was horribly misleading!
But hey, Sobeys carries his products, even the giant ceramic oil bottle called "The Big Drizzle". Such innuendo! The Naked Chef and his big drizzler!

I used to love watching the standard celebrity chefs mentioned before: Julia Child, Mr. Pepin, Emeril, etc... But then when I decided to go back to school for a Culinary Arts degree, and learned how to hold a knife and chop ingredients the proper way I couldn't stand to watch any cooking show at all, they're practices and quick change "with some little TV magic" just irritated me to no end, so I don't watch them anymore and I'm perfectly fine with that. :-)

In 1991 I went to the New School in Manhattan Culinary Institute. Besides other TV and great restaurant chefs, we had two days with Julia Child. In my opinion the greatest chef of French Food. One of the nicest people I ever met she was already in her 80's I believe. Instead of arriving at 8:30 am. I arrived early it was held at that time for a class of 10 in the town house and kitchen of the late James Beard another great before my time. We met and I shook her hands and said I have some questions she said have some wine this was 7 :45 in the am. Even if you not crazy about cooking look up her recipes on line if not wanting to buy her cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking still one of the best sellers on earth.
