Are We Allowed To Express An Opinion About Figs On JUB?

The new thread was going to be: "Figs. Love Them? Hate Them?"

(BTW greaves, who loves food from all around the world, find figs repulsive.)

But figs/fig trees are evidently sacred in some religions:

greaves, you really shouldn't bait the Mods. We're just doing our jobs. If you have a grievance, it is best to take it up privately.

That said, I like Fig Newtons, but that's as much contact as I've ever had with a fig.
 
It WILL be deleted. Not because figs are sacred, but because you began the thread, and the moderators are afraid of you.

You are allowed to express opinions about any topic that does not bait or attack members or come under the heading of hate speech. Half of the moderators believed you had crossed that line. The other half did not.

I placed the baiting thread in a neutral zone for review until enough moderators could weigh in on the subject. The thread was modified so that the title did not call hundreds of thousands of our members stupid and it was placed back in circulation.

I returned that thread despite this thread, not because of it. And frankly, after seeing this thread, I can understand why so many normally calm moderators wanted to close the previous thread.

Rather than making threads about figs, why not take some time and ask yourself what you'd like your relationship to this community to be. If you want to be here to draw negative attention to yourself, that really isn't a healthy way to think or live. And if you are here to be part of a community, there are many productive and fun ways to do that without angering half of the people here.

5 of the first 15 posts are from mods. I guess you have achieved what you set out to achieve, Greaves: getting ultimate attention.

While I find it amusing that the mods are divided on any particular topic (they are only human afterall except for Springboksfan, he's other-worldly), I'm not sure how anyone could not recognize baiting when they see it in the 'believing in God' thread. Unless, of course, they shared the OP's viewpoint.

Not that I give a gnat's shit, however.

Figs are an excellent source of high quality food, and should be appreciated for their efficiency in assisting the body to dispose of its waste products.

The proverbial merde stirrer has a certain sensitivity for picking those topics that reflect their own inner need to embrace a laxative, as their way of discharging all that troubles their peace of mind. :D
 
I like to bite off the end, stick my tongue in and then suck the whole thing into my mouth.
 
I like fresh figs and have 6 trees. They're great with cereal or cheese.
