The tape was leaked to the press by a waiter who was working at the event. The reason? Barely political. He had had it with the way Romney's people were treating the staff at the hall where the event was held. As a result, he helped get Obama elected.

That may be so but tax money is our community money and we have to trust whoever is in power at the time to spend our community money in the most sensible way.

So why are they complaining?

Depends on who's complaining. It's entirely possible for someone whose income doesn't come from one of the economic sectors that receive preferential treatment (real estate development, for example) to pay substantially north of 50% of his or her income in combined federal, state and local income taxes, payroll tax, and property and use taxes, and sales tax. This has lead to emigration from high states (New York and Connecticut, for example) to no or low tax states. (Florida is the most-oft cited example.)
