  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Are YOU a Social Justice Warrior?

You do realize that this is a current projection only and that the deficit only exists on paper? California's $306 billion dollar budget is the largest in the country...so the slippage so far this year is about 10%. And the reasons are quite straightforward and revenues subject to recovery.

But thankfully the article (which you likely didn't read) provides an indication of how the budget can be balanced over the remainder of the year.

You also likely do not realize, or care, that Newsom doesn't believe the solution is individual reparations to address the issue above?

You probably also don't realize that from a macro-economics standpoint that if you give poorer people $806 billion dollars, it all recycles back into the local and state economy, while if you give the ultra wealthy an $806 Billion dollar tax cut...most of it likely goes off-shore?

But whatever.

It is all moot.

I just love though that it really rattles people like you.

The irony of an Australian and a Canadian fighting over Californian and American politics is rich indeed.

As if both countries don't have enough of their own socio-economic issues to advocate or oppose. Yet, those don't tend to fill Hot Topics.

It isn't about the politics.

It is about the economics of social justice.

What happens in California could have a profound impact, not only on other states, but on reparations in other countries. This could influence how Canada ultimately deals with confronting our own colonial past.

Oh, and this is CE&P, although Grimshaw, who is too afraid to play in that sandbox, would like HT to be his own CE&P forum.

I should add that I also find it surprising many times that US members don't weigh in to sort out facts...but seem content to either ignore the implications of state politics and almost all socio-political issues.

Anyhow, this very day, there was a conversation here in Ontario about how reparation settlements in other countries may impact what Canada does...although when it comes to slavery, our history with it was relatively short and only about half as reprehensible as the US.

Our greatest shame is in how we treated Chinese railway workers and of course, even to present day, our first nations communities.

No one here wants to hear it. We get told to shut up when we speak up.

Let me clarify that. When we weigh in on the anti-racism side of anything we get told to shut up. We get called “woke” We get told to F-off. If comments were on I’d get at least 3 calling me names from this post.

Then you aren't playing the game correctly. All you have to do is complain to a mod; they are on a hair trigger alert on race.
They will at the very least send him a nasty gram if not an all out ban.

I was waiting for Grimshaw to start punching down on obese women.

Gee. Who's next in his social warrior keyboard campaign?

The only SJWs I think are insufferable are "enlightened," self-loathing, straight white high school, college, and university kids who act like kiss-asses to minorities, and view themselves as being smarter and wiser than they actually are. What's bloody hilarious about these kids is how often they contradict the words that come out of their own mouths. For example, they go on about how ignorant and offensive gay stereotypes and assuming people's sexual orientation is...despite the fact that they themselves rely on said stereotypes as a guidebook to identify gay people (and portray us in their cute little short stories they write for their school's zine) and assume other people's sexual orientation all the time. Speaking of which, they have a very distorted, borderline cartoonish view of the gay community (yes, I know we're not really a community, but of course they don't know that, because, well, they don't know shit). For whatever reason, they view us as peppy, innocuous, perfect little angels who sing musical numbers about love and friendship while holding hands under a rainbow, in a field of flowers. Yeeeaaah, no; if only. See, here's the thing about sexual orientation. It doesn't matter if you're gay or straight, at the end of the day, we're all the same corrupt human beings. And since we're corrupt human beings, literally none of us, regardless of our sexual orientation, are perfect, angelic, pure, or morally superior to others. In other words, just like straight people, we, too, have our share of uncaring assholes (some of whom are members of this very forum), bullying, body shaming assholes (ditto; I've seen a few posts saying something along the lines of "the ugly gays don't matter"), perverted creeps (yours truly and plenty of others on here), murderers and cannibals (Dahmer, Meiwes, Magnotta), and other individuals who are thought of as mean, immoral, heinous, or evil.

But, eh, to be fair, like I said, they're kids. They still have a shit-ton to learn about how shit works in the real world. In this case, the fact that gays (well, LGBTQ+ people in general) are a lot more vast and diverse as a whole when compared to the miniscule amount they meet in their cute little anime fan clubs, and especially compared to the cardboard cutouts portrayed in those corny, sickly sweet romance movies/tv shows that seem to be all the rage in LGBTQ+ media nowadays.

I don't mind the adult SJWs (again, the self-loathing, straight white ones) since they actually practice what they preach, think before they speak, and have enough life experience to be fully aware of everything I mentioned; well, most of them, anyway.

It's just a political swear word, particularly by the Right against anyone on the Left they disagree with. Recently overtaken by 'political correctness', now 'woke'. With the picking out of extreme examples to indiscriminately bash most of the Left as if the rest are tainted. The establishment Right never deal with the actual arguments of the Left nowadays. Ever-since the rise of the New Right in the 1980s. It's one straw-man argument after another.

Previous protestors had attacked paintings protected by glass. The DC judiciary is notedly "progressive", so who knows if they'll serve any time.

I think this crudely-drawn drawing is an accurate summary of a 'slippery slope'.

The people on the left really need to tell the other people to 'bugger off'.

Why should slutty exhibitionists be given permission to exhibit themselves in a grotesque fashion to captive children in schools? Why aren't they exhibiting themselves in old folks homes— they people might appreciate visitors.

I'll take "Things that just aren't fucking happening" for $100, Alex.

There is no slippery slope. Teachers aren't choosing your child's gender.

It is distressing to see you allowed to turn JUB into a hostile, toxic space.

But it is most illuminating again in this round to see the lack of push-back.

And where you get support.

This video shows parents gathered in the street demanding Social Justice with signs saying 'Protect Our Children' in Maryland USA.

And there's another groups demanding their own version of Social Justice.

But you will have to follow the link because JUB demands that children may not be shown.
