Are you a Social Justice Warrior like Kris Klewie, Neal Gottlieb and J Justin Wilson?

Do you make speeches at other people and tell them how to behave?

Do you have more than a hundred Followers on Twitter?

You first.

Most of your threads and posts on JUB certainly indicate that you are. Although one doubts that you have 100 followers.

1583 Twitter followers. And no, I don't make speeches at them telling them how to behave. For four reasons.

1. What kind of "speech" can you make in 140 characters? It's fine for sloganeering, but not speeching.

2. "I am unfit for public speaking." Ever since middle school, I've always been terrible at "persuasive essays" and debate. If anything, my lackluster arguments and terribly-backed-up points are most likely to get people to start wondering if my position is all that tenable.

3. I have little in the way of "social justice" axes to grind. I'm usually the last one at the table, mulling over which side my moral imperative lies on, long after everybody has picked their colors, taken to the streets and crossed swords.

4 Even I know Twitter followers aren't there to be educated. If they follow me (or any ody else), it's because they've found what I said to be in sync with what they already feel. My Twitter followers probably find me modestly diverting, but that's about it. If I decided to get political or "social justice-y", I'm assuming most would simply unfollow me, even those who might agree with the sentiments. If they wanted political sloganeering, there are other accounts to follow for that.

I don't use twitter, I am an activist though not as active as I should be, I have worked with leaders, ran for office, spoken in open forums question congressmen about the problems that confront our society.

I have had upwards of 100 letters printed in our local papers on the editorial page, I don't preach to captive audiences.

No to all of those, and I can't be arsed to Google the three named individuals to ascertain who they are.

No No and No ............. and i don't have Twitter account.
I have zero twitter followers.

^ I got rid of it. Sadly, its become like Facebook and you end up having fights with friends from the real world.

Just another shit stirring place.

A thread about SJW's and it doesn't even contain the phrase "cis scum"? I'm shocked!

"It's always hilarious to hear SJW used as an insult. "Social justice warrior" is the basic plot of most '80s action shows and cartoons. Arriving in places and fighting against discrimination? The A-Team were social justice warriors. It's practically a synonym for Knight Rider. Insulting someone for respecting other people is like insulting them for masturbating -- the fact you don't do it has way more to do with why you're so upset all the time." - Luke McKinney

politically opinionated but not really social justice. for some reason its really hard and tiring to convince people that they are poor when they are eating top ramen and own an iphone 6 = the textbook definition of stupid American.

You're not paying attention!

Jubbers were GUSHING over Saint Kris last year! And there was another adulatory thread on Mr Gottlieb this year. And Mr Jay Justin Wilson is another self-publicizing Social Justice Warrior who brought his handsome face to our attention this year.

Yeah I mean I don't really claim the term because it's a bit internet-y and should probably be avoided - but I am an international socialist (previously I have been an anarchist, but I am not a nerd any more and Kronstadt'd myself into the dialectical lights) involved in queer theory and masculinity stuff so I probably fit the mould a bit.

Still I don't have any idea who the guys you mentioned are and I am sure just loud mouths with no real substance to their politics.

Social Justice warrior sounds like a douche trend for hipster kids whose parents cover the monthly $2000 studio. I don't believe Change.org petitions have any meaningful significance and don't have time for rallies and stuff. I did attend some protests when I had time but if there is a good cause, I do donate.
