It's much more easy to say we are not afraid when we are still young and healthy. Based on my interactions with the elderly, I have observed that security changes as we age.
I'm not sure security is all that important, more, it's loving life and worrying about how they're gonna impact of the people that matter to them, and whether in old age, they'll be a bother to anyone. Older folks likes to fend for themselves as long as they are still active.
