Canadian high jumper Derek Drouin is right-handed and right-footed, but he jumps left-handed and left-footed.

Here's why.

When Derek was very young, his teacher showed him high jump and he fell in love with it immediately. When he got home that night, he created his own high jump in his basement. He set up the cushions from the sofa as a landing pad. Two speakers became the stands and a broomstick was set on top for the bar. The hallway leading to the den became his runway.

So, why does he jump from his left leg instead of his right? As Derek explained, "Because that's the way the hall went."

The De Grasse/Bolt bromance continues.

The 200 metre sprint was just ran in Rio. Usain Bolt (lane 4) was, of course, leader of the pack. About 10 metres from the finish line, he looked to his right and there was Andre De Grasse right beside him in lane 5. Here is that moment:

The U.S. Olympic Committee says two American swimmers were taken off their flight from Brazil by local authorities amid an investigation into a reported robbery involving Ryan Lochte and his teammates.

Ryan is safe and sound back home, but his buddies, Jimmy Feigen, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz, are throwing Ryan under every bus that comes along. Apparently, there was no robbery. However, there was a bit of drunken mischief involving smashing up a local gas station. Rio police tracked down a security video at the gas station showing the guys (one of them with seriously silvery hair coming out of an alley where the damage occured before being sat down on a curb by security.

(I saw the video on a local news report.)

They were parted from their money, but it wasn't stolen from them at gunpoint. It went to the gas station to pay for the damages so the station wouldn't call the police.
