  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Are you OUT on JUB?

I don't have ay face pics on JUB and don't plan on posting any.

No, I am not out at JUB. I hope me surfing through tons of gay porn and salivating over online penises might throw JUBbers off.

Lol seriously.

I don't think that you have to put yourself on your display picture as a means of "coming out" on JUB. Just because I'm not on it doesn't negate the fact I'm gay. This is, after all, JUB we're talking about.

You might stumble on the website one day, but you don't come back repeatedly because you're straight.

I don't use my real last name online (more because I don't like it than for privacy), nor post my address and phone number, nor my credit card info nor SSN. And I don't discuss my penis size. But other than that, my life is an open book. :-)

Well, my avatar is not me, because I wanted something more decorative.

Yes, I'm out and open on JUB. My pics and Christian name are somewhere floating around here. lol

I used to be really paranoid about sharing that much of myself due to someone recognizing me but I eventually quit caring. If anyone irl does notice me on JUB, they'll have more to explain than I would.

That's exactly how I feel.

My only concern now is photo searching, which is coming soon to a search engine near you. But, oh, well. There go my chances to be President.

I suppose I am. I met many JUBers at the St Louis meet in 2008. Those that I know are my friends on Facebook. I have no secrets

There is always so much about out or closeted on JUB, but when I think about it, many of the posters here who are out in their circle are closeted here, meaning they maintain anonymity.

That anonymity means no face pics ever.

If you use that criterion, are you out on JUB?

I am not posting my picture here or anywhere else for that matter. It's called common sense, but I'm starting to think it may not be so common after all.

But yes, I'm out and about.

Long Live Harvey Milk!

Yes. I wasn't when I first started posting on jub, but I've had pictures on here for months now. My avatar is always a picture of me.

I don't understand why posting one's photo on this website (if you're out) is any different than posting it anywhere else. Yes, this is a porn site first...but many of us use it for the community. It seems that many feel there is some sort of stigma and/or potential stalker-'OMG I recognize you' deal that comes automatically with posting pictures online.

Some of you are placing more importance on yourselves than you really are. Most of us would probably just like to put a face with the username. It's hardly ever deeper than that.

Yes and no.

Yes I largely agree with your points.

No I do not want prospective employers denying me employment because I'm on a gay forum site. Companies have invested a ton of money into screening people's online social presence.

I have several pics still on here under my previous username. If you know me and you know how to use the search feature here, then you can easily see what I look like. Then again, if you know me then you already know what I look like. ;)

I'd say that although I'm not in the closet, I'm more "discreetly" out this time around.

Like it or lump it. :-)

^Maybe he's just saying that you look like you want/need to get fucked.

I find the topic rather illogical. JUB is a gay forum. I can't imagine any str8 men want to indulge in gay discussion. And it's silly for gay-in-denial to hide himself among gays who don't even know him.

But logically, there may be some over paranoid gay-in-denial who's afraid that he will meet his neighbors, friends, or even his father in a gay forum....

I'm so out I hafta go inside to change my mind.

I don't post pictures of myself anywhere on the web.

That doesn't make me closeted.

That's my arm in my avatar. And my face and chest (clothed) have been posted here under my previous names.

My real name is my username, and my last name has been posted in threads when I post my design work.

That all matters even though I am a straight chick 'cause I'm associating my name with a porn site. If anyone looks deep enough into my Internet history, I won't be elected into any political positions. Ever. Which I should have thought of before I decided I could be president.

Anyway shorter answer. I'm out and proud.

^ You're also awesome. (*8*)

I haven't posted any pictures of myself on JUB, but more than one JUB member knows my full name through contacting each other via email. I talk a lot about my life, my experiences, my sexual inclinations, and offer my perspective on the boards themselves and also to many individual members through PM. I share just as much about myself with some particular JUB members as I do with my best friend.

Despite all of that, I suppose by some definition I am 'closeted' on JUB, but even with the unfavourable connotations / implications that come with such audacious terminology, I'm okay with that. I'm not here to prove to anybody how out and proud I am.

I'm simply here to share my opinions, to learn of other people's life experiences, to offer compassion, encouragement and support, and to interact with people of every background and description.

If I am to be characterised with the label of 'closeted' around here, then so be it. I will bear such a classification with none of the insinuated feelings of shame.

^ Anders, you're a really nice guy... so you get a pass. ;)

Not to mention the fact that your post was one of the most evocative of what many of us feel. (*8*) Very insightful.

It is plain and simple: I think faces are more human.

One of the delights of a messageboard can be not knowing what a member's face looks like.

We only gain an impression of their character.

(I appreciate this regularly. Down with faces! )
