Are you still wearing masks?

I wear my mask when shopping, and at medical places that require masks. Of course, 90% of people in my area do not wear a mask, unless it's in a place, like a doctor's office, where it is required.

I have been looking around here in LA - would guess it is under 10% of the people wearing them...

^ I'll attest to that. I'd say the under 10% you refer to is largely made up of very old people, hugely fat people and Japanese and Chinese Americans, immigrants and tourists.

David Graeber had lingering symptoms like not being able to taste food for months after getting sick, then suffered sudden kidney failure and died. With my luck? I'm chill maskin' thanks.

I lost every single bit of weight and muscle I had - skinny as I was in high school now from covid. I couldn't eat anything for a long time. Also - thanks to covid and the stroke it gave me part of my heart is dead. If it doesn't repair itself which is a possibility - my cardiologist said I might have to have a heart transplant - all started due to covid.

WAAAAYYYY too many people just don't get it. It is kinda useless to tell them though - medical professionals have made it clear and easy to understand.

By removing the masks the people that have done so have possibly sentenced all of us to a continuation of the disease. I would rather talk to a wall than talk to any one of them about covid. I see it at a sign of poor character to ignore the fact that anyone can still catch it and pass it on. No words really - the people who ignore that are gonna be who they are - so the people who do "get it" need to be mindful and keep their masks on and hopefully there are enough of us that we can at least curb and reduce the spread of the disease.

That's what gets me the most. The fact that it could have been (and could still be) stopped dead in its tracks long ago if everyone cooperated for a friggin' week or two. That's not worth lives? Tells you something about the dire need for Earth consciousness and unity. Down with the capitalist credo of every shithead for himself and the biggest shitheads win.

At work, we are still under masking and social distancing mandates, as high transmission continues here.

Managers and program managers still don't wear their masks when in cubicle areas, still wear masks under noses elsewhere, still remove masks when talking to employees at their cubicles less than three feet away, still enter cubicles, lean into cubicles unmasked when working with others, still remove masks in conference rooms if they think others present are in agreement, still refuse to monitor or enforce masking. Numerous employees and entire aisles and teams refuse to wear their masks among their own, and enter other areas as a sort of protest.

We are peppered with ceaseless emails announcing workplace cases, abjuring all to not come to work with any symptoms, commanding all to comply, threatening discipline, but ultimately, doing nothing.

I've emailed Vice Presidents, Site Managers, Directors, Managers, and Supervisors until I am blue in the face, to see the same subordinates refusing to mask. I've met with Finance managers, Humarn Resources, and Occupational Health to no effect.

I've stood and told people on the aisle, passing through, that masks are required outside cubicles.

They. Don't. Give. A. Damn
.

Three of seven people on my immediate team were out this week with COVID. One is the manager who has an anti-vax poster in his cube, protesting the corporate and government mandates to vaccinate.

The CDC said, oxymoronically, that we're all just going to have to live with Covid from now on.

COVID: 600,000,000

HUMANITY: 0

If the last 2 1/2 years was a test run for a more widely virulent pandemic I guess we don't have to worry about climate change anymore.

Also, can anyone explain the chinstrap mouthbreathers to me?

Do these people actually believe their noses aren't connected to their respiratory system? Or is it some kind of passive-aggressive anti-mask protest?

Either their stupid or patriotic. The two are fast becoming synonymous.

They are told 'wear a mask', they do it.

They are told to cover their mouths...

^ I would love to take them all scuba diving.

I seen tripled boosted quadruple boosted people sill come into the ER with covid symptoms.

A true n95 mask will protect you not a loose surgical or cloth mask.

I'm afraid I've become a fatalist, or maybe somewhat Darwinian at this point.

Although I took my vaccines gladly, and an annual flu shot, I disagree with perpetually becoming health aware to the degree that it requires masking. Aside from mutations and herd immunity and all, I consciously would rather a portion of the populaiton die until we no longer have epidemic levels. It needs to burn through at this point. It's a genetic predisposition in many victims, as having complicating co-factors (and I have three) does not make you as susceptible as having the vulnerability to respiratory infections that some subpopulation has. This is lay commentary, and I'm sure people will posit otherwise, but there's just lots of evidence that being fat, old, or inactive doesn't make you a COVID victim. The reverse is true, but there's a paucity of data profiling the genetics of the dead or debilitated.

My view is also jaded as I observe fear-mongering in the media, and not just for COVID, but amplifying many normal phenomena as broadcasters seek to scare viewers into trusting the broadcaster as some authority of truth. They do it in reporting child disappearances (the vast majority being parental disputes), weather ("gazillions of people live in the East and WILL BE affected by the storm" -- DUH!!!), and every scintilla of product recall or illness outbreak.

They do the same for economic reporting, obsessing about gas pricing ticks, up and down, every ten cents, which maybe totals to a $2 change in fill-up IF your vehicle holds 20 gallons. That's not even the cost of the Monster drink or the coffee or biscuit the same driver bought when he filled up. It's just inconsequential, but waved about as if it's Apocalyptic.

And masking is now playing into germophobe's fantasies. No, not all masking is a bad thing, but there is LITERALLY no statistical point at which everyone will ever agree they are not needed, and I'm not willing to accept a society living in fear to that degree indefinitely.

One of the doctors (the lead doctor) that invented the type of vaccine used for COVID was hailed as a genius for years. Once COVID-19 hit and they started to use his invention, he came out and said it was being used wrong and making things worse. Certain people then started saying he was an idiot and saying he was anti-vax.

Another doctor came out and said the shots were being given wrong and could be causing people heart issues. He to was a well know doctor that was then vilified.

It has also came out that the CDC discovered early that high vitamin D gave many benefits to not getting and for getting over COVID easier. Some are now saying more so than any of the vaccines.

Also I believe it was the CEO of Pfizer was caught on tape admitting Pfizer's vaccines did not work and they lied.

COVID is big money to certain people.

Ironically, the health care and nutrition and medical industries won't even stop referring to Vitamin D as a vitamin, even though they all know it is not. The body does not produce vitamins -- it uses them.

I view the vaccines as providing much more good than harm, whether considering ineffective versions or complications, but we did what was reasonable, and then some. At some point, we have to accept that it may become an annual killer like the flu is.

We all owe a certain degree of cooperation for living in community, but there are limits. Many of us have reached that limit.
