Nice but smart. It's possible to be considerate, pleasant and accomodating without being a doormat. One simply has to exercise a certain degree of equanimity and distance. I cannot stand those who approach every situation with hostility and paranoia, and who assume that the whole world and all of humanity is out to eat them alive, as from what I've seen, 90% of the time, that status exists almost exclusively in their own preconceptions, but becomes self fulfilling as a result of their actions/attitudes.
 
I don't think it's possible to be too nice. I also don't think being nice equates to being a doormat. If you're a doormat, it's not because you're nice, it's because you're weak. One can be a very nice person and still stand one's ground.
 
I have been too nice in the past, and it definitely has hurt me. As I am getting older, I am learning not to be too nice as it can be overdone, much like anything else.
 
i think i can be too nice for my own good. but cross me and it is not a pretty sight. i will only take so much before i start swinging

Nothing to explain. I was just being pithy. It might mean "nobody wants to go home with a nice guy". Or "nice guys are those that die alone". Or even "nice guys are the ones that are stuck pre-orgasm after their hook-up has already shot his load, wiped his dick off, and gone home". I don't even know if I believe it, but I liked the way it sounded. :)
