Well obviously the owners of this site aren't.

Nah i'm just joking, i'm sure they're pulling out all the stops.

Anyway onto the real reason for this thread, are you up to your job ?

I'm overqualified. Yesterday I repaired a CNC lathe. Today I started rebuilding and updating a machine we use to decorate plastic parts. I programmed a PCS unit to take the place of old timers and switches.

A technician would be paid about triple what I'm being paid for the job.

I need a job before I can be up to it. Im doing some work for my sister who wants to publish Ebooks so I keep busy with that

At times i seriously doubt that i am, it is getting better, the trick is to really try and maintain a certain detachment.

^ Doubt is a healthy sign that you aren't a sociopath.

I think I am still up to the job....and more. As I have recovered from having shingles in my eye and across my head, I have regained focus, memory and interest.

About a year or so ago...I might have admitted that I was not sure if I could keep doing it as well.

I'm up to the job, although employed a couple of rungs below my experience.

My toughest task is not telling management too much truth.

Of course. First I kiss it....then I like to run my tongue up and down.....Oh never mind....:o

Not that I'd ever need to, but I've always envied guys who can twist one up.

I can't take all the credit. Hoody sent me all his techniques on video.

*flees thread*

Unless we are talking about belamo: his massive amount of doubt can then be imputed to sheer sociopathy.

I was a tool maker for years, more knowledgeable than most and I spent my day being fed the harder jobs which I didn't mind as it made my day go by faster. I also had to explain math and angles to most of those that I worked with, including management. The real insult was that I would be offered a job towards the end of an economic downturn and wages were basically frozen, then a year or so later the boss would hire a new guy and would have to pay him more than me because the economy had picked up. I found myself helping people that made more than I did and to make matters worse they wanted to borrow tools from me. I really don't miss working with those who rode the short bus to work.
The machine shop owners in the Detroit area have been in collusion for many years to prevent business owners from ""stealing" workers from each other, if you take another companies worker you will be "black balled". In more than one instance I had a business owner contact a then current employer to let them know that I had applied for a job at their company against my express wishes.

Wow, I didn't realize that this was happening^.

I think that I was up to my job. I did my job for 25 years at one place. Years later, they didn't understand what I had to do and thought that I was too slow. They laid me off. They also ended up getting rid of the person who replaced me, I assume because she couldn't do any better than I could. I was able to find another job. I hope that my earlier employer eventually got the picture. Actually my former employer called my home about a year later when I was at work and I think that I heard he was going to offer me my job back, but found out I already had another job.
