If 18 is adult, parents and brothers. Wine with festive meals since I was 14 or 15, so it would have been neither notable or memorable.

Legal? A few days after my 18th birthday, at a cast party in High School after a Saturday performance of the 'spring' musical. It was held at an abandoned gold mine. Big bonfire, too! Lots of fun. (Back then, Colorado was an '18' State. :D)

I mean first legal drink for your country.

The legal age for buying alcohol in the UK is 18, but I think it's legal for restaurants to serve wine with meals to people under 18 and it's also legal for parents to allow children to drink alcohol at home. When I was in my early teens, my parents would give me the occasional glass of cider. I didn't have a taste for much else at the time. I honestly don't recall my first over 18 drink.

I never drank alcohol before I was of legal age. My mother had been a drunk, so I was averse to it until I got past college. At some point, I began to drink socially, which means I accepted wine when served it at dinner, but not much else.

I've never finished a beer.

I can't remember the first occasion, but I'm sure I was a guest at dinner and in my 30's.

A bunch of random old guys in my local pub
I never touched alcohol until I started work

At Uni. well at high school really.

I guess the actual moment at 6pm when I turned 18. With family and friends.

When I was younger, the legal age was 21. I had spent my teens waiting patiently to become legal. It was my big step into adulthood. When I turned 20, I was so excited with anticipation. And then the government made 18 the legal drinking age. I was suddenly legal. No fanfare. No celebration. No nothing. It was such a let-down.

It was a business dinner party, so I was with co-workers and management.

I had my first taste of alcohol at home when I was about 10*. My dad and grandad let me have a taste of the beer they were drinking. It was vile and I had no desire to repeat the experience.

I had my first 'adult' drink aged about 17 in a pub with friends. I didn't particularly care for it, so from then on I mostly only drank 'soft' drinks.

It wasn't until my mid-twenties that I began to enjoy alcoholic beverages.

These days I can take it or leave it.

*In UK it is illegal to sell alcohol to anyone aged under 18 and for under 18s to buy or attempt to buy alcohol.
However, children aged five to 16 are legally allowed to drink alcohol at home or on other private premises.
It is illegal to give kids under the age of five alcohol.
While kids over five can be given alcohol at home, the NHS warns of health risks associated with young people drinking.

With my wrestling coach - first alcohol ever. Then I shared some weed with him. Sweet combo for him, for me not so much.

I was drinking wine with Sunday dinner when I was a kid.
My dad used to pour a little wine in the glass, and it was mixed, mostly ginger ale or lemon-lime soda!

My first legal drink from an actual establishment was a frozen Brandy Alexander that I ordered from the Ground Round. It was a creamy, frozen drink, much like a spiked milkshake!

Hard to remember for sure - I grew up in a college town and the bars were notorious for not checking ID's so going to a club or bar in high school was pretty common...

I would guess it was with a buddy of mine but drinking was no big deal in my family. If I wanted a drink I could have one and even as a kid if I wanted to try something my parents were drinking - they were fine with it.

Funny a lot of friends where it was strictly OFF LIMITS until they were of age spent college as binge drinkers - but those of us where it was accepted all knew how to handle it.

For me I went to a party at a guys house from work named Carl at 24 and I tried Crown Royal.

I think letting little kids have a sip is the way to go. That is what my mom did. I swored it off, my brother became a drunk so maybe not so fool proof.

21 in public in California and similar response as before: family. I remember being carded at 21 when out to dinner with my parents after having just returned from Europe where my age hadn't been an issue. I first started drinking at meals regularly when I was 20 and living in a dormitory in Italy and a carafe of wine was on the table for both lunch and dinner.

Interestingly, I just returned from spending a couple of weeks there over Christmas--my third visit this year--and it seems that in restaurants fewer people are drinking. It also seems that fewer people are eating three course meals.

I couldn't tell you. I was drinking on special occasions at 15, in bars at 19 and 21 wasn't even a thought.
