You do realize the mayor and governor requested the assistance? I know you know little about government and how it operates but they are trying to get control over a huge violence problem (let's throw some more guns on the streets). It is a cooperative affair and does not involve the military.

The National Guard, when they were deployed during the riots, were mobilized under the direction of the Governor (a Republican, btw). They were not "federalized" which would have transferred their command to the President of the United States.

I am constantly surprised that people can be so ignorant and believe this type of absolute crap; perhaps immigrants should not be the only ones to be required to pass a citizenship and knowledge test.

It may be illegal to bar guns in the Capitol. I forget exactly what the exceptions were, but it's illegal to bar guns in public accommodations, stores, parks, universities - I can't remember if churches got exemptions, but I do think that places where state congressmen work can ban firearms.
