Ask me anything about Starbucks Coffee Co

I don't like coffee and i don't like tea. Am I still welcome at Starbucks? if so, what can I order that doesn't have coffee, or tea, and is not made up of just milk?

heck just come to toronto

there is one on every corner
it seems

but i love my Tim Hortons

I think there are two Starbucks here in Regina... one in the University (where there is also a Tim's) and one in Chapters.

As far as busy-ness goes... the only people who go to the Starbucks at the uni are the people who don't have enough time to wait in the Timmie's line. :D

As far as the rest in the city go, I can never stop at Timmy Ho's for a morning coffee unless I leave early and hit in between the morning rushes :(. They need at least another 3-4 Tim's. I did stop for a coffee on Thanksgiving though :D.

On a high note, we're getting a downtown Tim's; it'll be the biggest in Canada and I suppose, the world. :D

As for Starbucks... The only thing I might get once in a while (VERY VERY rarely.. I think I bought one all last year) is a Caramel Machiato (sp?)... but I like Roca Jack's specialty coffee's more anyway.

I have so many neighbors that are totally adicted to Starbucks.

It seems like there are at least 3 Starbucks in every city.

Do you think that Starbucks has opened too many stores?

Do you feel that the stock has already peaked when it comes to being considered a fast growing company, since they are already everywhere?

I want a big cup of coffee with as much caffeine as possible. Slightly sweet, a little 'carmely' a little creamy but not too 'milky'.

What should I order ?

Well lets see here. I would honestly say go in and ask for a Venti 2 pump caramel Black Eye. This would be a 20oz coffee with 2 pumps of caramel syrup (for your caramel and sweetness) and 2 shots of espresso (which will also help with the caramel) You could then add cream yourself at the cafe stand.

Just for reference I have been a barista for three years as of the 23rd of October, and a learning coach for one year. I am also currently going through Shift certification. (To all the non starbucks people out there, i have been working in the store for three years, been training new hires for one, and the shift supervisor part should be self explanatory!)

Is Tim Hortons the Canadian equivalent of Dunkin Donuts?

Yes - and is owned (believe it or not) by Wendy's...I prefer the Wawa c-store coffee. Wawa rules the mid-Atlantic. And it does seriously - Dunkin, 7-11, and the omnipotent Starbucks all trail Wawa's dust in store sales - overall and in the AM period. And, before I get questioned, Wawa is Leni-Lenape (a major mid-Atlantic tribe) Indian for "Canadian goose." See Pete we even honor our neighbors in chain names!

^actually tim hortons is a publicly owned company now

nothing to do with wendys anymore

Just thought i would post, i'm doing an apprenticeship in air conditioning and mechanical services and my very first job was a Starbuck's ( in the UK by the way ) :)

Got loads of free drinks after the job was done!

Yes u are correct...I was up too early this AM and forgot they spun that off recently as well as Baja Fresh.

Is Gloria Jeans better than Starbucks?

Why (in Australia anyway) is Starbucks food do incredibly expensive? $3 to $4 for a morsel of food, gone in a thrice!

Why is it so hard for somebody working at Starbucks to understand that I want a White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino and not an Iced White Chocolate Mocha?

does it annoy you when people who don't know what coffee is supposed to taste like complain about your coffee?

Oh, and if I brought 8 Fratmen to your store, would you trade me a pound of coffee for one of them?

My question?> Why would anyone buy the horrid tasting, overpriced puk? I get my beans custom roasted by Polly's Coffee in Long Beach. It is way cheaper and doesn't tast like old motor oil.

Even Safeway beans are far better then Starpuk.

so they can meet & flirt with the gay boy customers!!

Maybe you're ordering wrong. o_o; Make sure they mark WMF on your cup.

At times, yes.

And I totally would trade my coffee for one of them. :D

Can you please answer our questions now?
Yeah.

Is it true that Starbucks sale are on the decline because McDonald's has improved their coffee and it is s much cheaper? A friend recently told me that.
I think that's mostly speculation. I haven't gathered real data and statistics on the subject, but I haven't seen a decline in number of customers. McD's coffee is actually pretty good, but I think we beat them with our sandwiches.

We have better coffee and sandwiches; the sandwiches are bigger, better tasting, and they are less fattening.

Who are the most annoying customers at Starbucks who make the most absurd demands about their coffee/drinks?
"Are you going to make my drink now?!"

"Sure.

After we make the five drinks ahead of yours."

That "horrid tasting, overpriced puk" of beans is mainly to ensure that our various flavors of coffee are standardized. With custom roasts, you can either get really good roasting or really terrible roasting. If you are the major coffee fanatic, custom roasting is probably better, but Starbucks makes sure you get consistency every time.

For the socially conscious consumer, Starbucks tries its best to achieve economic transparent relations with its coffee bean growers. I don't want to delve too much into it, but a lot of our beans would be considered "fair trade beans" had the standards not been so high. If all our beans were just fair trade beans, they'd be more expensive than they are now. This part might be outdated, but our one and only fair trade bean-- the "Cafe Estima"-- is supposed to be highlighted as the COW every other week or something. So yeah, it's partly why the beans cost so much. Someone with concrete knowledge on the C.A.F.E. practices can tell you more.

Forget the Fratmen... come in yourself and we'll work something out between just you, me, and a couple of lbs of coffee.

McDonalds still uses "robusta" coffee which is still lower grade coffee beans than Starbucks' "arabica" beans.... Robusta beans are grown at lower altitudes and are of a lesser quality than arabica beans which are grown at higher altitudes and of a higher quality... which is also the reason for the difference in price. You get what you pay for.
