Are you still climbing your way up the ranks of Jake Cruise's media empire?

No. I left Jake Cruise about 3 months ago, actually. My last scene was the Morgan Black/Brad Kalvo scene that we finished at about 9PM at night. I took what was supposed to be a short vacation the next day alone to Key West but found out that just up the street they were shooting "So You Think You Can Fuck" for Dominic Ford. I dropped by to say "hi" to everyone and ended up guest-directing 7 of the 9 scenes for them. What a great bunch of guys and I really great experience.

How has life been the last year for you?

Kinda nuts. I don't have a regular job anymore, I just freelance for different companies. So I have no time off and I'm always looking for a new gig. But I'm happier than I've been in a long time.

Have you been motorbiking your way around the country to anywhere interesting?

Sadly, no. No time to do much other than work these days.

How are your dogs keeping?

The boys are great. New Puppy has finally settled in and we're a bigger family now.

What are your plans for Christmas and New Year?

I haven't planned that far ahead but I'm thinking I'll take a few days to just relax.

Jasun:

You posts are the reason I became a JUB Supporter. Smart, funny, and insightful, your posts convinced me that the JUB was a community I wanted to be a part of.

There are many members here I admire and whose comments I enjoy, but none more than you, and none who did more to convince me that JUB could be a place where Out and Proud Gay men could talk about things that include porn, but which could also include a wide range of issues that could be taken seriously. without taking ourselves seriously.

It can be a mistake to infer that any site with which someone like you is affiliated is populated with leadership of a similar disposition as it relates to gay and/or gay friendly perspectives, but I will save further comments on that for my own thread. :)

Welcome back. We are much the better off for your participation.

You're too kind. I always had fun posting here. I hope I'm able to do it as much...

Give me names of male porn stars who has a nice good looking Feet?

Jasun! Welcome back, my long-time friend!

Hope that life has been treating you well....

It's good to see you here....it has been far too long since your last visit!

Sir Ron has most certainly missed you! (*8*)

Hi Jasun, nice to see you again......glad to see you are well.....

Is the common notion that "most/all porn stars were molested as kids" true or just a myth?

Um... that's a common notion? Among whom? I've never heard that.

In other words, is having a fucked up past or current life a prerequisite for doing porn, or are there perfectly well-adjusted, mentally healthy people with normal childhoods/lives doing porn because they actually want to and enjoy it? What's the ratio between the two?

I have no idea how to answer such a bizarre and biased, leading question. I've worked both in and out of the adult industry and as far as I can tell the people IN porn are a lot more mentally stable than the ones out of it. I know that in my years in corporate purchasing, I saw a lot more drug abuse, back-stabbing, sexual harassment, and just fucked up people than I ever have in porn.

Most of the people I know are fairly well-adujusted people who like what they do. I wouldn't work with a model who didn't want to be there. I've seen plenty of studios turn down models who don't really love what they're doing.

If most of them ARE fucked up in some way, should people feel guilty for watching porn because they're somehow getting off at their expense (like pedophiles do with child porn)?

You mean how I feel when I see young kids in a Sunday School play and I think they're cute but feel guilty when I know that the vast majority of of them have been repeatedly raped by their ministers, Sunday school teachers and alcoholic parents who beat them all week and then drag them to church and shove them in the basement for more abuse while they attend services, recite "God Forgive Me" in that zombie-like tone and stroll out of church, guilt-free and with a clean slate so they can continue their abuse and tax evasion since God says, "Hey, it's a brand new day?"

Like that?

Or is this all just puritanical, sex-phobic bullshit?

And now I remember why I left JUB to begin with.

Solo jerk offs pay about as well as a hardcore straight scene.

Hey, welcome back.

If I could ask, since it's always fascinated me, roughly how much does a gay jerk-off scene pay? And how much for a sex scene? Just a ball-park figure to within a couple hundred dollars will do if you don't want to be too specific.

Jerk off scenes and straight sex scenes seldom pay more than a couple hundred dollars.

It depends on the model, the studio... lots of factors change that drastically. But for the most part, solo scenes are pretty low-paying.

I've heard that a lot from female porn stars who do straight porn. They claim most of the girls have some kind of fucked up life story that (directly or indirectly) lead them into porn, alluding to the idea that no "normal" person would ever want to, or truly enjoy it. Personally, I don't agree with that stereotype, but I hear it a lot.

I can't comment on straight female porn stars. I only know a few but they all seem pretty normal and together as far as I can tell. But they're also not the ones who'll go running to the talk show circuit to make a few bucks and if they did, nobody wants to hear about porn stars who they can't look down on.

anyway, the answer is no. I haven't seen anymore fucked up people in porn than out. If anything, anyone who lasts very long in porn is usually a lot more driven and together and even-keeled than most people I know.

Basically, I meant, does watching porn make you morally guilty of contributing to their supposed problems (i.e. doing porn, and the hard life that led to it)?
Does that make sense? If not, nevermind.

God, I hope you don't eat at Taco Bell or shop at Walmart. The guilt will kill you.

Thanks for your answers to my last questions. I have still more-

Why aren't more studios shooting in the highest definition formats? Is it that much more expensive to do 1080p instead of 720p?

How are scouts compensated? Does a studio pay them more for 'better' models? Do the vast majority of models come in through big scouting agencies?

Maybe this is another question for a scout, but I imagine that most of the world's most athletic guys got that way because it's part of their job - they're in college sports or professional sports, they're bodybuilders or acrobats or dancers, or models or actors. If you consider for example Paul Donahoe's story, don't the rules or expectations set out by these industries/organizations put huge constraints on a scout's recruiting pool? I get the sense that the more athletic a prospect is, the less willing he is to do porn, and this is because porn is expressly prohibited by the things that made him hot, ie college athletics. If that's the case, do you see this changing ever?

If everyone just offers their own flat rate, is there still any kind of bidding that goes on for a model? What are the main ways studios specializing in similar tastes compete with each other to deliver the product that will win the most subscriptions, if not by offering a prospect higher compensation than the next studio?

This looks fun. Btw, your blog is always an interesting read!

So about porn actors: do you find there is a quality in their personality that makes them "more suitable" for making porn, or are most just regular guys for the most part?

I just want to say I'm glad you're back here. You have been missed!

By the way, what are the annual sales figures for straight porn and gay porn in the U.S.?
