Asking the religious community for support

This is a good and admirable project, FabG. I hope that you see it through and that it bears fruit.

One editorial comment: "scourge" is probably not the most appropriate word to apply to the HIV/AIDS crisis. Most definitions of the word have a connotation of "punishment." "Crisis" might be a more suitable term. Many of the recipients of this letter probably already view HIV/AIDS as a "scourge." Why not try to flip the script?

A missive asking for dialogue with the Christian community would likely receive a more positive response from members of the Christian community if that missive made explicit reference to Christ, Christianity, Christian values and the Christian community.

These are all great ideas you guys are sharing, I really really really really really appreciate your help. I hope you don't mind being patient with me, this is certainly not an overnight project.

^You rock for suggesting it!! It's awesome that you're interested in pulling in church members and attempting to form a relationship w/ them. Many LGBT people automatically write off religious people. In general, some people spend all day complaining about the situation, but fail to do anything about it. You've definitely motivated me!

Reaching out to religious communities is a wonderful thing. I also agree with speaking to them in their language. The religious have all sorts of quaint terms referencing homosexuality that make for amusing icebreakers. We have to form common cause with the evangelicals because I think we need their support, and they sometimes turn out to be good friends to us, like Tammy Faye Messner.

Have you thought about trying to make a non profit for this?

Also out of curiosity what would you like to see happen? What is your desired end game? If you do get replies (and I am sure you will) you may want this question thought out in detail.
