In short, Atheism is the real challenging religious (yes, "religious") sect outside the American establishment of Christian manufactured religions, with the exotic spicing of Islamic, Eastern Asian, Wallaballaukaboogha and what not minoritary sects.
Just like in the Roman Empire you were socially acceptable as long as you sacrificed to some or many gods and let others to the same, but were frowned upon when you were a Christian or Jewish monotheist fundie preaching the exclusive truth of your own, unique God and fighting and disrupting the belief in all the other idols, today the American Empire accepts any of your own private diverse, polymorhpic ways of being a monotheist who believes in THE [Lord] God, but you are frowned upon if you totally set yourself apart from the fundamental believe in THE God and fight and disrupt other people's Firm *pun* belief in Him.
