Attack on Canadian Parliament...

Joel Osteen invented his own version of Christianity.
There are tame cults and dangerous cults. Tame cults are the majority.

Joel Osteen is a Protestant pastor in Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. I couldn't find anything about him inventing his own version of Christianity. Just because he is television preacher doesn't make him a cultist. Billy Graham was a television preacher. Bishop Sheen was a television preacher. Oral Roberts was a television preacher. Were they cultists?

The Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormons have their won version of Christianity. Are they cults?

No, they are not.

But none of this has anything to do with the attack on Parliament Hill, so stay the hell on topic!! as you are so prone to tell others.

The big worry I would have now in Canada would be how the government take this forward - people will want them to do something and that could result in a loss of liberty or just a general extra level of policing that will never go away.

In reality, while it was a horrible event, it was really well dealt with (it clearly could have been much more horrible, but the security in place already done there job well) and I hope the mood to crack down in the aftermath is not too great.

Cpl. Nathan Cirillo's dogs await his return home.

My fear is that this won't be the last attack. I think really it's just the start.

Nah, those people will be spied on and track down and go to jail.

Yup, those under watch by the police will be track down and perhaps go to jail, but other will emerge and once again, we will not see them coming... that's the definition of malfeasance... we will never be totally safe from that...

It may be of some comfort to know that if it does recur, it will generate repeated political blame for the failures of the state, the people, and policies. Somehow, the tiny fraction of people who are unhinged will come to represent the majority of Canadians. Count on it.

^Why would this be of some comfort?

^ sarcasm...

^Not at all Pat. A rather simple question to sate my curious nature....

Sardonic. There isn't a sardonic smiley.

The threads about deranged attacks always devolve into political recriminations. Familiarity must be comforting to someone somewhere.

Thanks for sating my thirst.......(*8*)

Apparently, Bibeau was pissed off because the government wouldn't grant him a passport:

OTTAWA - The man who killed a soldier at the National War Memorial was angry about failing to get a passport and struggled with drug addiction, say those who knew him at the men's shelters where he spent his final weeks.

Michael Zehaf Bibeau so angered some of the men at the Ottawa Mission because of his complaints about Canada that there was almost a fight in recent days, said Norman LeBlanc, a 60-year-old former truck driver who frequents the shelter.

"He went on for more than an hour about how much this country sucked and how he wanted to get out of here, and he was furious about the passport," LeBlanc said Thursday outside the mission.

^ I thought I heard that the other killer was also denied a passport.

Over one hundred jihadists from my country have also been denied a passport to join their 'glorious' new Islamic State. :##:

Hardly.

Despite Telltale Signs, Ottawa Gunman Was Not Flagged as a Threat

OTTAWA — The Canadian police acknowledged on Thursday that the gunman who traumatized the capital in a deadly shooting rampage had not been identified as a security threat despite his criminal record in three cities, embrace of extremist ideas and intent to travel to Syria.

The police also conceded that they did not even know that the gunman, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, had been in the capital for nearly three weeks.

It seems like the guy was just cracked, not a potential IS fighter. All the interviews say he was seeking help with his addiction abroad - maybe bollocks, but from the sounds of it he was in the throws of a breakdown.

That's a wise assessment...interesting that his original name, Michael Joseph Hall places him firmly in the Anglo sphere...
