It makes me feel great, because I have absolutely no weight on my shoulders because I don't give a shit what anyone else thinks about me.
Don't go on assuming, I absolutely do care about the rest of the population, but I'm not going to care about the rest of the population that is going to point fingers and look for reasons to dislike somebody. Disliking somebody because they're different or because the person does things they don't like, it's stupid.
Anyone who denies Gays rights can shove it, there is absolutely no good reason to deny another person rights at all. None, the people that do this only dig for reasons because of fear for things they don't understand or want to, that's it. There is no good reason and giving them excuses as to why they do it and why they won't give us any is disgusting.
This is not a game to me, this is my life among many others. This is serious for so many people that I can't even begin to speak of.
I'm not conforming to a society that doesn't want me to be who I am or who other people are, that is their problem, not mine or any other gay persons.
That is all fine and well and I appreciate your response. However, at the end of the day, this train of thought is based on Ideology and not Reality. You can go on and continue telling Straight people to "Fuck Off", not giving a shit and what they think, and all that ..... but the only problem is that these people vote ... and they do have the power to give Gays who want to get married these rights.
I strongly, strongly feel that we are at the point where we can no longer put the cart before the horse. Before people can vote for our rights, they have to first understand what homosexuality is. And this is extremely, extremely difficult when their faith, which many take very seriously, says one thing ... but common sense and logic says something else. That is why these people need to be educated and they have to hear our stories.
People are most likely to relate to those that they "identify with". It's been this way with Race and Sexual Orientation is no different. I feel that change comes in stages. It does not naturally evolve from one extreme to the other without going through stages. Gays, I feel, are not utilizing the best strategy to reach out to these people by telling essentially them to "Fuck Off" and by insulting their faith. On the contrary, that is only making things ten times worse and actually prolonging this change from happening.
I think the best way to get these people to hear us is to let them see that we are like them in every single way, except Orientation. Don't give off the image that Gays are a bunch of sex-crazed, Dildo-carrying, Queens in public. Straight people are already uneasy when they see the sight of overly Effeminate men in public. The Media certainly does no favors either, by only showing the sensational. What I strongly feel is that Gays need to combat this negative stereotype that has been placed upon this, to show Heterosexuals that we resemble them in every way, but Orientation ..... in the very least to do what we can do to make them more comfortable being around us, which is a struggle in its own right.
Then, once Gays get what they want, and are able to get married and have equal rights .... then they can do whatever the Hell floats their boat.
I strongly feel that Gays need to be more tactful in their approach, IF they want something out of these people in return.
