Awesome Obscure Songs

Just a coincidence with your name but a lucky one.
At the risk of a topic swerve, there is a gay angle to the Northern clubs. In the commercial clubs of that era, girls danced alone or with friends but boys could only dance if it was with a girl. Alone was to be laughed at, two boys together would be thrown out. But at a Northern club everybody did their own thing, the music was all that mattered. That and maybe the amphetamines.
So if you were never going to have a girlfriend, you could go to a place where nobody would ever say;
"why haven't you got a girl, you queer or something?"
In a time when there were very few gay clubs, that was the next best thing and well worth having.

You can shout it all from the rooftop because I was listening to Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" right from the very first broadcast on July 4, 1970.
Through the 70's, American Top 40 documented the pressure Northern and West Coast club scenes were having on the broadcast industry - it wasn't the 1950's anymore!
Of course, many a radio station manager had to run for their lives when they stood between American youth and the music they loved.

Holland-Dozier-Holland were the songwriting trio responsible for 25 #1 hits. In 1967, they had a dispute with Berry Gordy Jr. about royalties, and left Motown in 1968. This was one of their later projects:

Lamont Dozier passed away in March 2022.

OMG!!!!

This is Amazing! I heard an instrumental version of this song in 1977 and was told the name was "Where Did We Go Wrong". This is my first time hearing the Original.
All these years of not knowing the correct name and artists - Thank You for providing me a missing musical puzzle piece.

Allow me to intruduce Baran Yildiz, a multi-instrumentalist on this song, but first and foremost a handpan player.
Born in Istanbul, bred in Sydney.

Where does that kind of talent come from? Imagine being able to multi-track recordings and create a library of clips to share for all occasions. From concerts to workshops, Baran is a very busy man!

^I discovered him during the lockdown years, when Phoenix Central Park hosted a few of his concerts like this one. His one-man performances are ideal for waking up on a lazy morning, or as background to a brunch while my man is still asleep.

Slowdive - Blue Skied An' Clear (1995)
The 90s is my favorite decade for music. For sure. It was so rich musically and ahead of its time. This song is interesting and hunting.

Deepak Chopra Featuring Demi Moore - Desire (The Lover's Passion) (2000)
You might not have known about it. But Demi Moore made a song in the early 2000s.

Go all the way back to 1971 for this song.
Hard to believe that kids in my middle school were hearing this coming out of their pocket radios!

Sometimes it feels like I only imagined "Eddie and the Cruisers" from 1983. Nope, it was real:
