OK, I'm a little early here. BSG season 3 doesn't begin until October 6th but I wanted to let you guys know that SciFi is running webisodes leading up to the start of the season! There will be 10 episodes in total and its called "The Resistance." This little series picks up right after last season's finale.

It's a great way to get your BSG fix in. If you don't watch them they will not leave you in the dark when the next season begins though.

I just happened to run across them yesterday and you beat me to starting the thread. I can't wait for the new season. Its my one TV fix for the week. BSG is like television crack!!!

Great sense of what to expect for the new season,with the possibility of the human race under the Cylon thumb,and the underground efforts to resist this newest threat the cylons pose to humans.Of course their will be current political/social commentary interwoven as well-all seems to indicate another fascinating,tense season.I'm so ready for it,wish it were October already!

I know what you mean, BSG is the best television series I have watched. It is definately television crack!

Personally, the revamped series challenges my sense of fantasy with using bullets instead of lasers, sporting neckties and eyeglasses, smoking cigarettes (aboard closed-environment spacecraft) and other conventions whose developments one has to ponder being independent of our own tech and culture.

Then there's the psychodrama of humans' inhumanity to humans and other species, and leading the totally viable question as to whether or not mankind has the right to survive with such corrupt values.

The Pegasus crewmen's torture of their "6" prisoner and raping of the pregnant Sharon were stomach-turning allusions to Abu Graib, and other war crimes committed by U.S. soldiers who were "just acting out under stress" upon people "who weren't really people."

Politically, I get the statement (and I root for the Cylons).

I'm just not entertained by political statements on Friday nights unless they can add in some cool laser effects and creepy aliens.
 
I, on the other hand, find this type of show to be refreshing. Sci-fi was always unrealistic and painted humanity with bright pinks and yellows... BSG shows all sides of humanity and digs deep into who we are as human, and asks us what is morally acceptable and how far can you push the boundaries... You feel the drama, you feel the anger and you feel the pain.

The space battles are also realistic, you cant hear anything in space and they let you hear what the characters would be hearing. It touches closer to home than other drama/action shows.

Man i thought I was in the minority.. BSG seems to have a good gay following. Also looking foward to season 3. I love this show so much, that it even justified me upgrading my tv to flat HD.

Nope. You are not in the minority, there are a number of JUBers here who love BSG. Once the season gets underway, come back to this thread and join the discussion. :-)
 
I hate web episodes by the time I get through watching S2 on Boxset they may have been taken off.
 
I love the show to. When I watched the last few minutes of the cliffhanger, I was like, what happened? I was shocked, then thought maybe it was Boltar's dream. Then the killer part was when they announced we had to wait till October! I was feeling quite a few emotions all at once and I don't think any television show ever did that before.

I spent some time on an aircraft carrier and this show really has the feel to it. I also like, as stated above, the characters aren't all good/bad. They are people, they do their job, and have their weaknesses.
