bed sheets

organic cotton sheets
One of best sheet buys was an organic cotton sheet that I think I found at Goodwill. Top sheet only, though. But it was super cheap--maybe even clearance when I got it. I'd love to do more organic, but when one shops used, one takes what one can get.

Have you ever noticed the difference between wearing a cotton shirt and a polyester shirt? For almost 30 years, I have only used natural mattresses and bedding. The body releases moisture. Synthetic materials don't breathe, they don't wick away moisture. And that can make the bedding system hotter.
I have, but I've also owned sythetic sheets that were not as hot as cotton.

More than 90's of my sheets are cotton because I like the feel of cotton, but my synthetic sheets are not hot.

Their weave breathes. I don't sweat enough to pool water and block the air going through the weave.

I prefer natural fibers (which mostly means cotton in my case) for everything when possible and practical.

In a moment of weakness, though, I did get newer polyester sheets a year or so back. They were yet another super cheap thrift shop buy. They were livable--but I only used them in winter AND in a cold bedroom. Even so, I think I was happier with the cotton sheets.

I didn't pay attention to the fabric not being cotton when I bought a set, and was literally shocked one night when I brushed crumbs from the sheet in the dark and saw a blur. I did it again really fast and sure enough, it was generating static electricity, but not enough to feel any spark. Is that a renewable energy source untapped?

When I was young, my parents and I lived with my grandparents. Grandma thought it was beneath a lady to do laundry, so our sheets where send out to a commercial laundry and were returned starched and ironed. I loved how they felt, especially on a warm summer's night. So cool and fresh.

Weekly. But the other thing Oprah's expert taught us - replace your pillows every six months.
Expert? They have linens bootcamps now, do they? Or does Rutgers have a laundry degree now that they bestow?

;)
