I didn't pay attention to the fabric not being cotton when I bought a set, and was literally shocked one night when I brushed crumbs from the sheet in the dark and saw a blur. I did it again really fast and sure enough, it was generating static electricity, but not enough to feel any spark. In a moment of weakness, though, I did get newer polyester sheets a year or so back. They were yet another super cheap thrift shop buy. They were livable--but I only used them in winter AND in a cold bedroom. Even so, I think I was happier with the cotton sheets.
