On Topic Discussion Before you go to sleep at night...

I close my door because there's always someone awake with the light on outside, plus you know you have some time to 'put it away' if someone barges in if you catch my drift,

No, I don't close my bedroom door. No need.

Whether it is potential robbers or the unlikely zombie herd...... I have an advanced warning system that will inform me in plenty of time to deal with it, not to mention a few dogs to run interference. If they persisted, they wouldn't last long.

I almost always leave it open, for the airflow and light. my bedroom tends to be very dark; it's got one window and it's "view" is the side of my neighbor's house about 3' away.

I'll close the door in the summertime to keep the air conditioning in, and I'll close it when I legitimately really just want so sleep until the middle of the afternoon (otherwise, the sunlight from my living room will wake me up by 8 - 9 am)

^Ever consider a move to the country like....Montana? LOL

Fool. The evil powers of darkness give monsters the ability to bypass such trivial defenses without detection. They will always appear too close for you to have time to run or react, and suddenly pop up into view and stare malevolently at you.

LA has robbers? buzzer lives in a posh area of LA...I think Santa Monica or Malibu...

Child, I haven't lived as long as I have without learning how to deal with such.

As a kid I always closed my bedroom door for privacy
When I left home and shared flats and houses I always closed my door for privacy
Now I live alone and have cats I always leave all the internal doors open

Bolted, locked and with an anti-aggression button next to my bed.

I have always thought that all the people killed or raped in TV series would have survived had they just thought of locking their bedroom door before going to sleep.

At home I leave the bedroom door open. When I'm staying with my mother, I close it. I sleep like a log either way.

I used to leave the door open as I was scared of the dark. I thought that leaving the door open meant I could easily escape if I had to. However since being at university the dorm rooms stay shut and locked so I've got used to leaving my door closed now.

Nope.

My door as a kid always had mounds of clothes hanging over it which I was too lazy to pack away in the case of jeans and jackets which could go for wearing on Round 2 (the room had no cupboards, so I'd have to lug it to a spare cupboard allocated to me in the master bedroom), and so it couldn't close. So I've always been used to having it open, and still do.

As it was, the rule in our house was no locked doors, in case of emergency. Closed was fine - and my sister did that - but not locked.

As for zombies... hockey stick between bed and bedside table, and pocket knife between the mattress and the frame. I dare them to even try.

Closed. I hate the thought of someone or something staring or having easy access to me while I'm vulnerable. I don't mind leaving the window open a crack though.

One more thing... I have trouble sleeping if there's dead silence, I like a bit of white noise, or music. I have a noisy electric clock that I hung in my bedroom.
