Best Classic Rock Voice!

Anyway, for me it's Robert Plant. In his prime, NO one could wail like
he used to. (One listen to 'Communication Breakdown' can change a person for life....He was EIGHTEEN when he recorded that !)

Led Zeppelin is my favorite band. EVER. Josh, you and I would get along just fine!

;)

I could listen to Zep alllllll night long. And then longer. My favorites are definitely Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Hey Hey (which, if anyone could sing that like him I would have an orgasm right then and there) and What Is and What Should Never Be.

I'm gonna go listen to them right now!

Re. the Wilson sisters and the fact that many of the stars mentioned are from the 70s or 80s:

The post was originally asking about MALE CLASSIC ROCK voices.

I would have also included Benatar, Heart, Christine McVie (I like Stevie Nicks too but prefer McVie), and Janis Joplin.

And CYNDI LAUPER!!!!!

Robert Plant
Jimi Hendrix
Janis Joplin
The dude from the Eagles

Whoops !

My bad. He was actually SEVENTEEN when he recorded that. Even more amazing.

(Sorry about adding female singers, too. !oops! )

Here are five more from me:

6. Robet Plant
7. Elvis Presley
8. Freddie Mercury
9. Roy Orbison
10. Bobby Darin*

* Not really Classic Rock... but an incredible singer.

Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, to add to the already impressive lists above.

I was hoping that a few people (especially Canadians) would jump on the Burton Cummings bandwagon with me. It is getting lonely and cold up here hehe

THESE EYES are crying...

Gord Downie has a very distinct voice - no doubt about it. I have seen The Hip once in concert and they put on a great show.

However, I have seen The Guess Who and/or Burton Cummings 21 times in concert.... so you can see where my preferences lie. hehe ;)

I doubt that anyone here has ever heard of him, but James Dewar (RIP); singer with the Robin Trower band in the early 70s, had a great rock/blues/soul voice.

Freddy Mercury
Elton John
Billy Joel
Paul Simmon

The 70's and 80's gave us what are in my opinion some of the most amazing vocals ever sung. The power these guys had and the emotion they put into what they sang is unreal. I'm always a sucker for a good power ballad too.

Best? Not sure I can say, too many choices. A strong fav of mine is Don Henley:
Boys of Summer!
