Another CE+P non political attempt at a thread

Been travelling a fair amount for biz lately - going to many US cities - mostly large ones - stay 1-2 nights - and will occasionally dabble in local gay scene

Recently I was in Columbus, Ohio - LOVED IT - could live there - Short North area had restaurants, bars, galleries, shops and an overall vibe that was spectacular - loved the architecture too

Never would have thought

I live in NYC btw

Liked Houston as well - was surprised there too - Montrose area - very nice and boys very friendly

LA is LA - hard not to like (as a visitor) - stay in Hollywood area usually

Where do you live? where have you visited? and liked/disliked?

Providence Rhode Island has a wonderful gay community. Attracts a lot of talent being between Boston and New York but has neither cities traffic issues. The food and atmosphere are greatoo.

Currently live in San Diego and except for the cost this is the biggest small town in America. Everything you want in a large city with great weather and very family oriented cities and suburbs.

Third on my list is Seattle. It is beautiful with the crisp cool greenery that stokes the nature lover in my soul. While the artist and culture in the dowtown area are unmatched in my eyes.

I still have no idea where I will end up though when I retire. Probably all of them and many more via RV. Too me the happiest gay mecca is where me and James lay our heads.

RLY?!? My long (now lost) love was from Prov and I personally do not like the city at all. I just found the city pretty depressing. A city is only as good as its worst parts and seeing winos sitting on stoops during the day gets you down. Of course opinions are like assholes; everyone has one and they all stink.

I do love my city of Boston (which saddens me that chance didn't mention that :(). Although to be fair, New England's mood changes with the weather (which happens often and is pretty unpredictable) which is why people develop a love/hate relationship with the area and move away ASAP or live here the rest of their lives. Reckon I am not well traversed in terms of visiting gay areas (being young and traveling with straight friends doesn't help) but when I was Melbourne, the gay scene was okay. Alot of drunk makeout sessions is about all I remember. Ibiza, Spain was good too. Nice eye candy lounging/passed-out on the beach also.

Hey, Chance, nice to see you.

Vancouver, BC is great. Montreal and Quebec City. Halifax.

South Beach (SoBe) Miami. What can I say? It's a gay "mecca".

Fort Lauderdale. No longer just a beach town. Upscale, cosmopolitan, huge year-round gay population. Tons of bars and some excellent restaurants(gay and otherwise).

Charlotte, N.C. They don't call it "The Queen City" for nothing! Great city, friendly gay community. Would move there in a heartbeat if I had a job there. Actually prefer it to Atlanta.

Thanks for sharing boys

Love to hear that more and more cities r gay friendly esp ones I would not have imagined as such - Little Rock for example

My list was NOT all inclusive

As for Boston ........ Love the city but don't think the gay scene is all that - IMO it's am awesome str8 town

Have never done gay Chicago - love the city though

Liked SF although the level of homelessness took me aback

Cincinnati was fun although my bf Marty is from there so I'm biased

Keep em coming

You made me sad chance. Where are the advocates for gay love in MA? Bostonpirate still around?!?

Gay chicago is an acquired taste. In certain areas, its all of the bad stereotypes rolled into one.

The city as a whole though, is really gay friendly as long as you stay in the city proper and the north side. (venture too far south and you get into the poor part of the city)

This. I was recently re-introduced to Seattle when hubby and I took the RSVP Alaska cruise (refreshingly twink-free...just sayin'!) out of there. A little drizzly, but I could live there.

twink free? :(.

I would prefer twink-ful :)

Many years ago, I went backpacking in South America and two cities I still remember are Buenos Aires and Florianopolis. Very beautiful, laid-back, nice gay life and drop-dead gorgeous men.

i guess you must have bypassed the university district. come back ill introduce my friends. ;)
i was born here and could never be more proud. however we are smug arrogant cocky condescending sobs sometimes but that can be expected. and dont worry, i got vampire connections so ill tell them to not bite.

Live in New York City and love it. Great, gay city. If one lives here and needs a little gay getaway, there are a couple of very gay friendly little cities in New York's orbit. They are Hudson, New York (if you like the country side and small town ambiance), and Asbury Park, NJ if you like the ocean and the beach.

you're a NYer? wow - pleasant surprise

I agree - while I do love to visit other places whether on biz or pleasure and see what they have to offer, NYC is my home and where I belong - definitely for now

Great new sports bar btw - Boxers - in mid 20's off 6th - great big screen TVs, cute bartenders and comfortable as all hell - good crowd too

If you like that kind of thing :)

never been to Hudson ........... yet :)

thanks Palemate

There used to be a Boxers in Sheridan Square. Closed a long time ago. I used to go there when Dylan McDermott was the bus boy. (It was a straight bar). I think his father owned the bar, and his step-mother, Eve Ensler, was writing about pussies.

When speaking of "Gay Cities" I've always kinda looked at what use to be (maybe still is) called the "Gay Ghetto."

Oak Lawn in Dallas, Montrose in Houston, Texas. The Castro in San Francisco, The "Village" or Chelsea in NYC. South Beach in Miami.

Then there are places like Austin, Texas. Albuquerque, New Mexico.

And as Donny mentioned the Twin Cities, Little Rock, and the biggest shocker of all Eureka Springs, Arkansas!

Those places are very "gay" friendly, you'll find us everywhere in those places, and not a specific neighborhood, though those exist too.

Call me biased, but I really like Austin, Texas as a "Best Gay City."

It's smack dab in the Texas Hill Country, it's home to the University of Texas (read hot college guys), it's very laid back, lakes aren't too far away, and there's plenty of bike trails, and other places to "recreate." "Hippy Hollow" on Lake Travis comes to mind. ..|

You simply must go to ATLANTA!

The Advocate named Atlanta the "gayest city in America!" I have provided a link for your perusal.

Another favourite city is Lyon. Lovely food, a small but friendly gay scene and beautiful surrounding countryside.
