Biden Scolds Dem Rivals on Fox Debates

CONCORD, N.H. (June 1) - Joe Biden on Friday questioned how his Democratic presidential rivals could skip a debate involving the Congressional Black Caucus.

The Delaware senator, who will participate in a New Hampshire debate on Sunday, is one of two candidates signed onto a fall debate on Fox News and the sole person who has agreed to an Iraq -only debate next week.

In a telephone interview Friday, Biden called out fellow Democrats for bowing out of the Sept. 23 Detroit debate co-sponsored by Fox News Channel and the political education and leadership institute of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Democratic candidates have been under pressure to shun the debate from liberal groups who say Fox is biased against Democrats. Biden said Fox's role in the debate doesn't matter.

"I agreed to go because my friends in the Black Caucus said this is a very important debate to be able to determine the difference among us on matters relating to the African-American community," Biden said.

"Wherever the Black Caucus asks me to go, I will go," he added.

Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich is the only other candidate who has agreed to the Fox debate.

John Edwards and Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama are not attending. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd said this week that they will not participate.

"The single most important constituency in the Democratic Party - African-Americans, led by the Black Caucus, which are the leadership of the black community, asked us to show for a debate and we're not going to show up?" Biden said.

"Let me put it this way - if the African-American community stayed home or voted Republican , we're not going to elect another president."

Earlier this year, Biden was criticized by some black leaders when he described Obama as "articulate" and "clean."

If Biden is a man of few words, why then is he always apologizing for putting his foot in his mouth? Dems had every justification for bypassing any Fox News debate. Fox IS biased against Dems. Always has been. Fact. Biden is playing politics with black voters, pure and simple. His rhetoric is completely transparent and playing the same game as Liberman.

Appearing on ANY of their programs may confuse the viewer into thinking that they are a legitimate news organization and not the right wing hacks they really are.

They constantly distort ,mis-represent facts and outright lie to support the right wing agenda..

I am sometimes forced to watch it as it always seems to be on in the truckstops.

That may help explain the widespread support of the Bush Crime Family amongst the "fiercely independent " right wing ,redneck truckers who must make up the majority of the " 20%"..

They may have turned the news into a Jerry Springer christmas special, but if you want your voice out there you don't put it on matchbooks you go with billboards.

I have said it from the get go. Most people who will actually vote will measure what the candidates say not what the pundits say after. Regardless of where the debates are held the audience of FOX will here the results on FOX with the pundits having a polished team agreed response. It really makes it worse for them. The audience will buy what Fox says with zero personal input from the candidates.

Finally, in the end it will be another shitty close election where it matters who scares there base out more so we can get 30 percent of the american people to decide our future.
