As usual, Trump was all about creating chaos and sowing more distrust. He is relying on 33% of the population to enforce his seizure of power. He learned this from Hitler and other dictators who successfully used this same strategy.

I don't know if Trump on his own is smart enough to think of it himself or if he is using the ideas he learned from others. I suspect the later. We know he read/reads Hitler's speeches. We know Roy Cohn used to be his lawyer. People like Barr, Pence, Pompeo, McConnell, Stephen Miller, etc. are definitely smart enough to help him plan and execute it. So it is very likely that's his strategy. Because creating chaos was what the debate was about.
