From the backyard interviews, Britney & Jenn both praised Dan's game (but they preferred Ian obviously) and had no respect for Danielle. Joe also said he came into it thinking he was going to vote for Dan but Ian's jury performance changed his mind. If we include Ashley's comments in those peeks we got at the jury (she clearly had no respect for Danielle either) and assume logically that a super-fan like Ian would never vote for Danielle over Dan, then Dan really screwed up by not trying to take Danielle to the finals.

Dan vs Danielle and Dan gets 4 or 5 votes (Britney/Jenn/Joe/Ian for sure and Ashley most likely).

It was painfully obvious from the jump of the jury session that Dan wasn't going to beat Ian. His canned pandering did nothing but worsen the situation. I think he played the better game. I think he played the harder game. Also that Jury was so clearly a Brittney hive mind that I have to give that girl props. All said and done I can't be overly upset that Ian won because he played a solid game and it was Dan's own lack of self-awareness that took him down. Had he not voted out Shane he or Dani probably would've come away with the Final HOH and he would've been crowned the winner. He took a sure second over a shakier shot at first ultimately.

Like I said at the time, Dan should've voted out Ian instead of Shane.

Ultimately, Dan made TWO spectacularly bad decisions at F4. He should've evicted Ian because let's be real, Shane was most likely NOT winning that Part 3 HOH and we now know Danielle would throw a comp to Dan just because he asked her to. But even beyond that, Dan threw this final HOH to Ian and that...I JUST DO NOT GET. It was always obvious that Frank/Shane were not voting for Dan no matter what, and that Ashley/Britney were close to Ian.

Fun fact, this is 6th time a F4 voter kept someone who then went on to beat them for jury votes and win the game.

BB3, Danielle voted to keep Lisa over Amy (OK Jason voted, but Danielle was his ventriloquist). Lisa won.
BB4, Allison voted to keep Jun over Erika. Jun won.
BB6, Ivette voted to keep Maggie over April. Maggie won.
BB8, Danielle voted to keep Dick over Jameka. Dick won.
BB13, Porsche voted to keep Rachel over Jordan. Rachel won.
BB14, Dan voted to keep Ian over Shane. Ian won.

It's true that we can't know what would've happened had he evicted Ian. But we DO know he had a chance to try to win that HOH tonight and he threw it. I just can't fathom how someone like Dan -- who's normally SO good at reading people -- could read an obvious situation so badly. His chances against Danielle were always going to be better for multiple reasons, you know?
