Big Brother 15

Aaaand America put up Amanda. Fuck you America LOL. So...

AMANDA IS THE THIRD NOMINEE ON THE BLOCK

Amand is freaking out (duh) and she and McCrae are convinced Howard is the MVP. Amanda has the votes to stay right now but of course that can change especially if Howard wins POV (and his odds just got better cuz Candace is playing for POV). Once again this is why I HATE the MVP twist. It makes the HOH meaningless. I hope they retire it soon.

It seems the plan is for everyone to drop out of PoV and let Spencer win so Howard will stay on the block and they will vote him out this week and his dick out next week. Shame if that goes through because it looks so ultimately fixed. Helen has assured Handy Mandy that she will stay.

I didn't hear that. Amanda/Jessie/Arryn want to win and were planning for scenarios so the three of them could beat Howard.

If you get rid of Aaryian, then Gina Marie and Amanda should be going with her. The extent that Aaryian and Handy Mandy ripped Candice in the HoH room yesterday with openly racist remarks should be outed but CBS and BB have realized that they have a house full of vipers/racist and wouldn't have a show if they outed the bunch - Spencer included.

They did racist shit again?

SPENCER WON POV!

LMAO! This is best case scenario for me cuz now Amanda will stay (they'll definitely vote out Howard) but she'll still be freaking out all week which is super entertaining.

Bring on the drama Zuckerman!

No matter entertaining the HGs are, this cast is vile. Now somehow Candice is getting blamed for all the racial tension. The only thing I might give them a pass on is the "black Candice thing," because according to Kaitlyn Candice at some point said she has a black side and a white side. But everything else they've done is so disgusting they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

I feel like Judd is a little slow...

A nice commentary from Ragan

Big Brother & the Race Card Paradox

A few words playing the “race card.” Some people don’t understand that the term “race card” also refers to the exploitation of racism by racists. A common for of racism, for example, involves painting people of color as overly sensitive or reactionary when they rightfully point out racism. Paradoxically, when people claim that Candice and Howard are “playing the race card,” their critics—both inside and outside of the house—are the ones actually guilty of playing it. My point is illustrated in the follow two scenarios:

Scenario 1: A majority of the Big Brother house votes out one of Aaryn’s allies. Aaryn places the blame for this move on a black person (Candice). She flips Candice’s mattress on the floor, taunts her with race-baiting stereotypes, and laughs as her ally GinaMarie repeatedly mentions Candice’s race. When Candice mentions and cries about the sustained abuse she’s suffered in the house, she is NOT “playing the race card.”

Scenario 2: Amanda Zuckermann has called Andy “Faggoty Ann,” called Candice’s hair as “greasy and nappy,” characterized Helen (a Korean) as “the ***** Chinaman,” and referred to the “the black guy, the Asian, and the gay guy” as the “three outcasts.” CBS has shockingly made Amanda the primary narrator of Aaryn’s racism. Producers have also featured scenes wherein Amanda directly confronts Aaryn about her racial animus. Now that Aaryn’s in power, Amanda has backpedaled and told Aaryn that she does not think she is racist and claims people like African American contestant Howard use the “race card” to get ahead in the game. If anyone in the house plays a “race card,” or exploits racism, it’s Amanda, who shifts between vocalizing racist speech, deriding other people’s racism, and suggesting racism in the house is not real.

Candice and Howard have displayed enviable comportment in the face of sustained acts of racial antagonism. Claiming that either of them plays a “race card” is in itself racist, especially when one consider how the cast’s two African American contestants have, time and again, refused to directly respond to race-baiting hate speech.

I feel like CBS’s racism edit has been unfair to Aaryn, given that producers have placed the exclusive onus of racism on her shoulders. Spencer and GinaMarie, in particular, have fanned bigotry’s flames as often as Aaryn, yet their vitriol has not made it to CBS’s edit of the show. Racism and homophobia are unfortunately common, ordinary, everyday phenomena. When Big Brother constructs a narrative that suggests anti-gay and anti-people of color speech is extraordinary and relegated to a single person in the house, the show misses the point. I am thrilled that the show’s awesome production team has taken the first step in telling a complicated story about racism and homophobia. I just worry that they’ll miss an opportunity to go beyond the first step. Ratings jumped by over a million viewers when the initially included racism into the plot. Viewers are clearly ready for a more nuanced discussion about race and sexuality in the house. I believe in you, Big Brother.

Re: The Men of Big Brother 15

Wow you guys are REALLY harsh. I think Howard, Jeremy, and Nick are very handsome. I think some gay men's standards of what is attractive is so superficial at times.

^^ I just read that at Jokers.

Link: http://raganfox.wordpress.com/2013/07/29/big-brother-the-race-card-paradox/

I was reading the posts on Jokers the other day when Am and Aaryian were in the HoH ripping Candice and what I read was not pretty from Am since we already know Aaryian is a void. Am might do funny little skits in the dr but she is something else playing this game and her hate speech. . Coup d'tat anyone?

Ragan is intelligent. I liked the guy then and especially now.

How fucking bold are people..."faggoty Ann"? Seriously?

I couldnt help but roll my eyes at Ragan trying to take a high and mighty stance on this issue when he himself said he wanted to stab African babies with AIDs needles just because he was frustrated in the house.

I literally just hit reply to make that exact same point and saw that you already had slip.

PS sounds like there's a plan to kick Amanda this week.

Hello Everyone,

This is Ragan Fox. I was checking out my blog's analytics and saw some traffic from a gay-friendly looking site and decided to check y'all out. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I'd quickly like to respond to some common misconceptions about something I said in the house three years ago.

The African babies comment is something my critics either 1) to take out of context or 2) never witnessed with their own eyes. Context is everything, especially on a reality show. Every morning Big Brother plays music to wake up the houseguests. Best of all, they take requests. I spent 2 months in the house requesting music I like, such as Hole, Fiona Apple, and Liz Phair. They never played songs I requested. A few consecutive mornings they played U2, a band nobody in the house liked. Months before I went on the show, I penned a rant about U2's faux activism in Africa via the Product Red campaign. The thrust of my criticism was that U2 and companies like The Gap were engaging in false activism, hiking up product costs, passing the expense onto the consumer, and taking credit for AIDS advocacy. In the live feed clip, I told production that they had to stop playing U2. I said if they play U2 one more time I'd pull a reverse-Product Red. As a commenter on Reality BBQ noted directly after the event:

"What Ragan said was if they play U2 again, he is going to do the opposite of (Product RED), the campaign that Bono (lead vocalist of U2) started to combat AIDS in Africa. The opposite thing was going to Africa and start stabbing babies with an AIDS infected needle. Obviously it was said in jest, and he was making it clear that he doesn't like U2."

Lest you think this is revisionist history, you can check out the forum for yourself at http://www.realitybbqforums.com/showthread.php?12398-What-did-Ragan-say-about-African-babies

Finally, my admittedly bad joke does not disqualify my evaluation of racism and homophobia in the house. I'm not taking a "high and might stance" on the topic. I'm making what should be mundane, ordinary observations about ongoing, sustained hate speech in the house. If you're going to roll your eyes, you should have a nuanced understanding of why they're spinning.

Sincerely,

Ragan

PS, I'm happy to stick around and talk game. I love porn and I love Big Brother. :)

PS sounds like there's a plan to kick Amanda this week.

It's not happening. Mostly because Howard has ZERO game and he's up against Amanda who has a ton of game. The Goof Troop votes for her to stay are solid (Judd/Jessie/Andy/McCrae), Arryn is in her pocket and has already said she'll break a tie in Amanda's favor, and Helen definitely wants Howard out this week.

BTW a big eye roll at viewers hating Amanda for being too aggressive while adoring Dick fucking Donato. Talk about sexism. When a man does it, it's just game, but when a woman does it, she's a bitch. Ugh.
