Big Brother 16 (US Version)

Re: Big Brother 16

The BOB twist --which they took WAY too long to retire -- ruined the season for me. The twist made it impossible for the power to shift since the dominant alliance had two shots at the HOH each week, and anyone outside the alliance who won HOH had no incentive to put up competition threats since they would likely win the Battle of the Block and dethrone the HOH.

I actually preferred BB14 much more to this season because it had people like Dan and Britney, who I love, and the Danielle stalks Shane storyline played out hilariously on the feeds. And my god, people complained about Dan dominating that season but at least he had hurdles to overcome. Dan was dead in the water when Frank won HOH and had to pull that Hail Mary to stay in the house, and his efforts to get rid of Ian were constantly thwarted by Ian's clutch-comp wins, with Ian ultimately wining the game. Derrick on the other hand never had any opposition, was never in jeopardy, and never provided us a night on the feeds like Dan's funeral. BB14 had its moments (and it was ever so satisfying to see Boogie get the boot) while BB16 was a flat line.

Re: Big Brother 16

I know Derrick was playing it smart by sucking up to Frankie for a vote, but when Frankie pulled that, "I'm going to decide the winner of this game" bullshit, I kinda love Cody and Caleb for being all

Re: Big Brother 16

It would be hilarious if the Jury pulled one over on Derrek and voted for Victoria if she is in the final 2. I highly doubt that will happen because I think Cody will win final HoH but hey, if Derrek wins and backstabs Cody it could happen xD

Re: Big Brother 16

If that happened, Victoria would join Will, Jun, Dan and Jordan as my favorite winners of all time. (Wow why do I keep watching this show when they've only satisfied me four times in the past 15 years??)

Re: Big Brother 16

Victoria in my view is a waste of time. She is not funny, she cannot play BB and she has relied on Derrick so much that she didn't understand that once Cody won veto there was no longer a need to act as if she and Der were enemies, could not figure out how many times she was on the block (Thanx Julie) and wanted Derrick to tell her what to say at the eviction. Her drs are the same temper of voice she uses all the time and is obviously coached even to say what she does. But she is a good carry along because she is so dense.

Re: Big Brother 16

SPOILERS

Cody won Part I of the HOH comp (endurance). Victoria fell first of course (after 40 mins) and then it really seemed like Derrick threw it to Cody which either means he's certain they'll both take him and plans to throw Part II to Victoria, or he knew he couldn't outlast Cody in endurance and dropped out knowing he can beat Victoria in Part II.

Re: Big Brother 16

Oh , to be a fly on the wall when Frankie walked into the jury house and saw his Bae Zach! I imagine it to be a bit awkward as everyone picks up their jaw from the floor and wants to know who sent him home. I imagine, when the dust settled and Zankie were alone, they had a very long hug. I must admit I didnt expect Caleb, Cody and Frankie to be so shady towards one another at the end. The Jury house footage would be so much more interesting than watching Cody and Derrick gloat. It really bothers me that they try to manipulate the viewers by twisting the truth in their favor ( blame Zach, or make him look bad so we wont vote for him to win Americas favorite player). A part of me wants Cody to evict Derrick so that Karma can do its thing.

THIS. They've already changed so much about the show and undermined so much of the game's integrity, why not go full out and devote half of an episode to jury footage? They could start doing it when there are three or more players on the jury. Id certainly love to see/hear everyone's thoughts in the jury about Frankie.

Re: Big Brother 16

^ Oh, yes, that would be fun to watch

Re: Big Brother 16

I would also love to see Caleb's reaction when he realizes how deluded he was all season, how NO ONE saw him as king of the house, and how everyone thinks he was a creepy stalker with Amber. And this will probably be Amber's reaction when Caleb comes ringing her doorbell after he gets out:

And this of course will be Frankie, jealous that Amber is getting all the attention again from Caleb:

Re: Big Brother 16

They should do a BB Aftermath where they follow the house guests around after they have left the house for a month or so and the reactions they get from the public and friends. That would probably be more entertaining.

Re: Big Brother 16

Has there ever been a houseguest so inept at just about every single aspect of the game as Victoria?

Pathetic at competitions, completely clueless about what's going on (and even if she did know, she'd be completely clueless as to what to do about it), no strategy, constantly either crying or sick, or both.

She sucks so spectacularly hard at everything, it's kind of endearing in a way.

I have no idea how half of these people will actually vote, but I'm really optimistic for Cody and Victoria's chances, guys.

ETA: I actually thought I was way off but my predictions match the consensus on Joker's completely: Derrick and Cody both clean sweep Victoria, and Derrick clean sweeps Cody sans Christine's vote. Wow. "Will win" is Derrick 89%-Cody 7%-Victoria 2% and "Should win" is Derrick 88%-Cody/Victoria 5%...

Re: Big Brother 16

Derrick won Part 2 of the HOH comp and he and Cody are talking about the best way to evict Victoria (whether to wait until finale or let her now beforehand). I still want to think one of these guys has it in them to back stab the other but that doesn't seem likely now.

Whatever the comp was, Derrick completed it in 15 mins and Victoria took 30 mins (LOL).

Re: Big Brother 16

Is Derrick confident enough to throw the final HoH to Cody so he (Derrick) will secure Victoria's vote?
That would be brilliant if he is positive Cody will take him.

Re: Big Brother 16

Theoretically that's the best move and I'm 99% sure Cody would take him, but in reality, I think that's being too cute. Victoria is such an OBVIOUS take to the F2 that I wouldn't risk it if I were Derrick. And he's already been buttering Victoria up for the possibility that he may not take her so I think he wants to win it.

Actually no one on BB other than Will and Jun have ever thrown that final HOH (in the latter case, Jun and Allison were so certain that they were taking each other that they BOTH tried to throw it so the other person would have to vote out Robert, even laughing on the air at their obvious attempts at giving wrong answers). Even Erika on BB7, who had every reason to throw it, didn't.

Re: Big Brother 16

Yes, it would be too much of a risk and I think Derrick knows he should get at least a majority even without Victoria's vote. I don't see that he made anyone that angry this season who's in the jury or not for that matter. Very unusual, I think. Maybe that's why this season was so dull. They are all so nice to each other. That's a good thing normally but not on a televised/live feed/after dark reality game show. It's like a video game where everyone bonds immediately and lays down their weapons and waits for the mothership to come and pick them up. Destiny: The Heartfelt edition

Perhaps next season they should go with something like Survivor's "Blood vs Water" instead of "Expect the unexpected." The "unexpected" twist this season was how dull and lacking of drama it was.
I've said how much I've enjoyed the guycandy though. That part worked out much better than last season.
I really enjoyed Kathy Griffin/Zingbot too.

Yeah it's been a dull season because everyone else more or less ceded the money to Derrick, who isn't a very dynamic personality on his own. Not to take anything away from his game play mind you, he has played well. But its only fun to watch one player dominate a season when they're 1) entertaining and 2) not not the majority alliance and/or have obstacles to overcome.

For example, Will and Dan dominated Season 2 and Season 10 respectively, but they were both early targets when their early alliances got decimated so it was thrilling to see them come from behind and win, and Jun was between the two warring alliances once they got to the jury portion of BB4 so watching her slide in the middle of the house all the way to the end was hilarious. Also watching one alliance march through the game unimpeded is boring (BB12 and BB16 both had that); in fact the most entertaining week-by-week seasons are the ones where two alliances battle each other, trading HOH wins so the power shifts each week (BB6, BB11 and BB13).
