Re: Big Brother 16

Mariah Carey was annoying as hell on Idol a couple seasons back, but in this current war with Ariana, I'm definitely on Team Mariah.

Eat it Frankie.

Re: Big Brother 16

Team Nicki Minaj for me since I don't really like either of them.

BB16: The Real Issue with Frankie Grande: Gay to Gay

BB16: The Real Issue with Frankie Grande: Gay to Gay

The real issue with Frankie Grande has nothing to do with many of the things that make me dislike him. He wears a wardrobe that should have been left in the 80s, lies about his age, grandstands, lacks self-awareness, rides coattails, demands rather than commands attention, worries endlessly about his image, and the list goes on.

None of that matters.

In the grand scheme of life, and certainly the micro world of Big Brother, there are always people one will like and others you just cannot abide.

As a lesbian, I can say without reservation that Frankie's behavior under the microscope of Big Brother is more than bothersome, I find it dangerous.

I have raised my two sons, now 21 and 23, with my partner for the last 11 years. We have taught them a certain framework of life and Frankie puts a kink in some of those lessons. For instance, we have told them, and their friends, that should a gay person ever flirt with them, ask them out on a date, or be touchy feely with them they could simply, and politely, turn them down in the same way they would if someone of the opposite sex did the same.

Then you have Frankie. Frankie who has repeatedly groped obviously straight men. Frankie who has had his roaming hands removed more times than I can count only to come back and do it again. Shameful. Men who identify as straight should be treated as such. I do not believe in the guessing game when it comes to sexual orientation. That is for them to declare and not for me to play a game with.

I cannot see into the heart or mind of another, so this is pure conjecture on my part, but I have watched many hours of his behavior, and I truly believe Frankie has used his touchy feely ways in a mean spirited way. His attempts to seem light and friendly read, to me, as hateful. He knows those guys would be terrified of being perceived as homophobic and that they had to feel under pressure to just accept Frankie's behavior rather than forcefully tell him to knock it off. Of course, maybe a few of them really have not been bothered by Frankie's constant and inappropriate touching, but I have heard several of them complaining about being tired of it. I don't blame them. I would have been the first one on the bandwagon defending them if they had finally told him to knock it the hell off and anyone tried to claim they were being homophobic. I think they took far more than anyone should have expected.

The danger in this is not that one gay man will undo all the work the larger gay community has done to show that we are just like anyone else, but that he has had some effect on the thinking of others.

More than once in more than one Big Brother chat room, people have equated Frankie's antics and behavior with Frankie being gay. This is simply not the case. He in no way represents the gay community on a global scale. He is one pathetic douche bag who is filled to the brim with himself that happens to be gay. His homosexuality is not the reason for his abhorrent personality.

Do not even get me started on his "lessons" about gay life and how gay people act out in the real world. Or his nonsense about lesbians choosing to be gay. None of the gay people I know have ever behaved in the way Frankie does. Some flamboyant, yes. Some in love with the brightest colors in the universe, yes. I have seen flashes of parts of Frankie in many of the gay men I have known, but Frankie is a total package unlike any I have ever witnessed.

Gay people come in all of the same range of behaviors, shapes, sizes, political beliefs, religious beliefs, cultures, just as straight people do. I, again, implore people not to equate Frankie's lack of self-awareness, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors with his homosexuality.

Re: Big Brother 16

^While I'm not a fan of Frankie. I think she needs to calm down. The ratings for BB are not that huge. Most people have only seen the promos for the show, not the show itself. I feel like she's giving BB an importance it doesn't deserve.

Re: Big Brother 16

Well another season of this dog and pony show has come to an end (unusually long and boring this year). Obviously I'd like to see Derrick win the final HOH and take Victoria, but since that has almost no chance of happening, my realistic hope is that Derrick gets every vote, Cody gets eviscerated by the jury, and Frankie gets some kind of reality check (but not check check mind you...that America's Favorite should go to Zach or Donny).

Re: Big Brother 16

Caleb and Jocasta saying they would vote for Victoria and Hayden defending her gameplay is just going to make me sadder when she gets the boot tonight. Would've been awesome to see her get a few votes and make Derrick sweat for a few seconds (since he hasn't all summer long).

Re: Big Brother 16

And so a boring, predictable season ends with a boring, predictable finale. The only good part was when Donny won America's Favorite and Julie revealed that Frankie wasn't even in the top three.

Re: Big Brother 16

Congrats Derrek, I saw this coming a mile away. I'm just surprised it wasn't a unanimous vote, especially Donny. I mean Donny and Derrek were in TA together.

Looking back at my predictions, I actually got a few right and some of them MAJORLY wrong.

(My replies to my predictions are in Bold)

So far, judging on the "who would you form an alliance with poll" some of the people are pretty obvious. Nicole fits the showmance role, Zach the annoying guy, Brittany as the backstabbing bitch, and I can see Christine as the wolf in disguise.

Also, Frankie is Ariana Grande's brother. I feel like because he has a celebrity as a sister, he won't be bothered by the drama as much and will be a neutral housemate (Unless he clashes with someone like Rachel and Ragan did)

Again, this is from someone who has NOT watched BB and only short clips on YouTube.

Nicole did get a showmance, but she wasn't clingy like I thought she would. Zach was wrong, he was awesome, Brittany was wrong because she got the boot early, and Christine... not really. Frankie I was mostly right on, he was neutral with the house the entire time.

I watched the first part of the premier a couple of minutes ago, and my thoughts so far are:

Paola or however you spell it (The DJ) is annoying (Okay, mostly her voice) I like that she's a DJ, but she has too much of a generic girly personality for me to like her.

Donny is so far the one I like the most (However, he hasn't had much screen time) he seems very nice and I would definitely form an alliance with him. But I don't see him going that far.

Cody is also an early favorite of mine (Doesn't hurt he's cute) but he hasn't had much screen time either. I feel like everyone will like him and he will make it pretty far, but I think someone will backdoor him.

Frankie probably has the most personality so far of the eight I have seen. He seems like he could form an alliance and be a really good player, I just hope he doesn't argue with anyone (Which will be his saving grace, as long as he doesn't start drama and cause everyone to hate him, I think he will make it to at least the Jury)

Joey I like, but I barely saw any of her.

Nicole I thought I was gonna hate (She gave me floater/hide behind a man vibes) but I actually really like her. She is very quirky which is nice.

These are pretty much the only people that stood out to me, everyone else is vanilla. However, this is only the first episode so once the other eight come in and we see more personalities from the first eight, I can't make any official opinions.

I was right about Cody being very liked, but he was never backdoored.

Just watched the next part of the premier, so far my thoughts on the first eight hasn't changed, my thoughts on the second eight:

Caleb. Ugh, he's a bit cocky, but after watching him and actually paying close attention, he hasn't done anything to show he is a homophobic/racist. I mean, he gave Frankie a piggy-back ride. I'm not too sure, I feel like I will like him, but also hate him. Overall, I doubt he will win.

Christine. She's okay, but I feel like mid-season she will freak out and go psycho on everyone O_o

Brittany. She's cool, but she still gives me backstabbing vibes.

Zach. I bet he will be one of the first four eliminated. I want him and Caleb to hate each other, it will give some of the lesser physically built people a better chance of being saved.
.

I was right about Caleb, he didn't win. Christine didn't go psycho, but she became a huge bitch. Brittany never backstabbed anyone so I was wrong about that. And BOY was I wrong about Zach, he wasn't the first four eliminated and he didn't clash with Caleb

Overall, this season was average. However I LOVED how the guys of this season were very friendly towards each other, most times you get guys who barely talk to each other outside of game strategy, but this season many of them acted very friendly and didn't mind cuddling with each other. The girls on the other hand, well there isn't much to say considering half of them got evicted.

The drama wasn't that exciting, but I would rather have buddy-buddy housguests than racist bitches.

With the season now over, I hope we will get an All-Stars, Blood Vs Water, or a Heroes vs Villains season next year, I want to see more drama and more alliance battles like in season 13.

I LOLed so hard at him after Julie announced the top three. After she said 10 million votes casted, he knew he won.

Re: Big Brother 16

Just watched back the last few minutes and LOL @ Frankie being clearly surprised (mouth agape and everything) when Julie revealed the top 3 for America's Favorite. And what a top 3! Nicole, Zach and Donny, ALL people that Frankie either betrayed or tried to get out of the house. That was the most satisfying reveal since Keesha won America's Favorite on BB10 and April and Michelle were left looking foolish.

Re: Big Brother 16

I'm hoping for All-Stars 2 next season, but I don't see it happening. I used to hope they would do seasons with no returning players, but then you get seasons like this one.

Re: Big Brother 16

So here's a debate: if Cody did the smart thing and took Victoria, would he have won?

Re: Big Brother 16

If theres no gay black guy newbie or veteran, next season I'm not watching. That's the make or break.

Cody is a retard. And his feet are ugly too.

Re: Big Brother 16

So here's a debate: if Cody did the smart thing and took Victoria, would he have won?

I think Cody, but I'm not sure how close the vote would have been. The thing is Cody wasn't the strongest casemaker, but I don't think Victoria would have been any better and so he would have looked much better in comparison. If I were Cody, I would have talked about how I played a strong all-around game, winning comps when I needed to, which Derreck barely ever did, and Victoria basically never did, and then talked about my social game. I don't feel like Cody sold himself the way he should have in order to win it.

I think if had made that big of a move he might have been able to sway people into realizing that he could make a big game move. I'm not sure of what the vote breakdown would have been if he'd taken Victoria though.

Re: Big Brother 16

I think Jocasta was sincere when she said she would have voted for Victoria because she meant it when she said she wouldn't vote for Derrick in the same breath. I don't know how much Caleb really meant his intent to vote for Victoria but he did have a reason to vote against Cody since Cody evicted him. Obviously Zach would never vote for Victoria, and Christine would vote for Cody. I honestly think Derrick would have voted for Victoria if Cody evicted him. In his own words he was closer with Victoria as a person, and if Cody HAD actually burned him right at the end, I would definitely understand why he'd vote for Victoria AND against Cody.

The rest are votes that are more interesting/up in the air and all of them could go either way I think. Hayden didn't seem too pleased with either of the Hitmen in jury house segments but also didn't like Victoria I don't think, and Nicole was friends with both Cody and Victoria. Frankie is sort of another one where I could see him voting for either player. He was defending Victoria at the jury deliberations and he didn't seem impressed by Cody at all, but he also didn't show Victoria's gameplay any respect in his DRs all season either. Donny? Might still vote for Cody, but might vote for Victoria just because she was another outsider. Who knows.

Re: Big Brother 16

For the most part, I have been ok with this year's cast. I think the biggest problem with this season was the lame twists, i.e. Battle of the Block, Team America, and the rewind. BoB really allowed the big alliance, and vis a vis Derrick, to control the house the entire summer, and no one could gain any traction to take them down because whoever went against the group had a nice meeting with Julie.

Next year, the show needs to cast some very dominant Type A players, and then, have the twist be something similar to Survivor's Redemption Island. For example, all of the evicted HG's from the first week would be put in sequester. After very third eviction, there would be a competition with the evicted HG's to see who returns to the house. For that first week, the returnee would be able to compete in the HOH and veto comps but would also have immunity from being nominated for eviction either as an initial or a veto replacement nominee. They could easily carry this twist through the Final 4-5, and it would theoretically be possible for someone to come back into the game 3, 4, or 5 times. By doing this, it would be much more difficult for the HG's to eliminate the big game players, and with the evictees being able to discuss the game away from the house while in sequester, it would give them more of opportunity to bust alliances.

I would also like them to switch up the veto competition by their changing it from week to week where one week it would be a regular veto (the person using the veto is not immune from being a replacement nominee), another would be a golden veto (the person using the veto is immune from being the replacement nominee), there would be an occasional diamond veto (the vetoholder is able to remove a nominee and replace them is a HG of their choice, not the HOH), and once or twice would be a coup d'tat (the veto holder can remove both nominees and replace them with HG's of their choice). The HG's would have the competition as usual, but the vetoholder would not know which veto is won until right before the veto ceremony. These veto changes would encourage the HG's to not throw competitions and to make a decision on its use or not on their own rather than as part of a larger group

Re: Big Brother 16

So here's a debate: if Cody did the smart thing and took Victoria, would he have won?

This is my favorite BB game to play. Obviously Cody SHOULD have taken Victoria for a better shot, but I honestly think that it could have been close and even a victory for Victoria. Jocasta outright said she'd vote for her (as did Caleb!), Frankie clearly wasn't voting for Cody no matter what (the friction between those two has been palpable for a while now) and Frankie was defending Victoria's gameplay, as were Donny and Hayden, and Nicole and Victoria were very close. Basically I see it going this way:

Derrick/Zach/Christine guaranteed for Cody (3 votes)

Jocasta/Frankie guaranteed for Victoria (2 votes)

Nicole likely or leaning to Victoria (1 vote)

Caleb/Hayden/Donny undecided (3 votes)

Now THAT would've been interesting.

Re: Big Brother 16

Frankie confirms to Jeff that Victoria likely would have beaten Cody had Cody taken her (according to what other jury members were saying in sequester).

Re: Big Brother 16

All water under the bridge and I am happy with the out come. I liked Derrick all along, and Cody was great eye candy and that walk was fantasy heaven. I loved the finale, too. I laughed my ass off at the reveals. They were hilarious.

Jocasta and her fucking Bible school. "Derrick got down and prayed with me. I guess he didn't even mean that." What a religious asswipe she is. It is not church, bitch, it is BB. The week they had the meeting with Dr. Will and his plastic wife/girl friend Caleb was bitching about Derrick but he voted for Derrick over Cody who was a lot closer to him that Der. Even Christine voted for Der.

Victoria looked so frigging cute when she came out the doors to Julie.

Hurrah for Derrick and Cody and Donny, though Zach so deserved that fav award. He was even great at the finale. So we, my hubby and me, had a great time. Sorry so many had a rotten, unhappy, time. Till next year then.
