What? Me? Really?
There is a significant conservationist opposition to zoos, all zoos, but I definitely disagree with them. I do not believe a child grows to appreciate the animal world in the same way from merely seeing documentaries.
Yes, the real habitat and behavior are better presented, but not the presence. Being able to stand near a wild animal, even in a zoo, gives a different experience. Add to that the fact that children are then conditioned to associate wild animals as positive experiences, and it helps grow the green movement over time.
