Bill O'Reilly gets smackdown on The View

This can sometimes be a problem with this site. You post something...then look above your post...and there's a post that's wasn't there when you started writing your post. And you know people are thinking "Why did he post that after THAT?"

the worst is when a moderator say " ok guys back on track" and you post one two seconds later that was like... still off the rails...LOL!" Doh!

yeah if a thread is hot it will move faster than you so remember to quote the one you are responding to when its busy at JUB.

I don't know what that jewish muslim thing up there is all about and frankly I haven't had enough coffee or beer to figure it out.

if anyone wants to say what its rellevance is to the topic of Bill Oreillly getting smacked down, I am all ears.

I dont know what it even means.

I watch the O'Reilly report just to see wht the right wingagenda is currently pushing or punishing.
O'Reilly is a loud mouth who out shouts guests who oppose him and tries to incense and rally his fans.
I personally blame him for the murder of the abortion doctor, when he told his viewing audience to do something to stop him.
He also led an ant-French campaign when France & a few others refused to invade Iraq with him. He urged the boycott of French wines and other products and proudly proclaimed that although he planned to go to France for vacation he changed his itinerary and went to Italy instead. Eight yeats later we know the French were right and we were wrong. They still haven't found wmd's or proven links with al Qaeda. Has O'Reilly ever apologized?
I remember pictures of Americans pouring French wine into the streets and "freedom fries".
It also astounds me that the sexual harassment suit from one of his female employees just quietly went away. If it was any other announcer, O'Reilly would have rode it for all it was worth. The other networks should have focused more on that pay off.
The women of the View offer a great variety of points of view. Whoopie and Joy were wrong to walk off it only gave Mr. Bluster fodder for his right aimed cannons. That's probably why they returned.
O'Reilly knows which buttons to push for his desired reaction.

Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd pose on the set of their daytime talk show,

CAPTION
By Heidi Gutman, AP

Because The View was pre-recorded on Friday, today was the first time the hosts were back, live, to comment on Thursday's Bill O'Reilly segment, which included Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar walking off stage in anger.
Mother Hen Barbara Walters allowed Joy and Whoopi to defend themselves before she gave them a scolding.
Joy said, "We speak about standing up to bigotry, so I stood up." And Whoopi explained, "I hit my saturation point."
Elisabeth Hasselbeck piped in that she didn't agree with O'Reilly, but objected to not being able to use the word terrorist because it means we link "extremists and Muslims, extremists and Islam, and I think that has disarmed us."
Sherri Shepherd said she heard that some people thought the whole O'Reilly thing was staged, but it was "not staged." She did say O'Reilly "was really energized" during a camera break and said "I'm really going to make your ratings" with this. So, she said, "He knew what he was doing."
Then Barbara asked if she could speak. With a stern schoomarm voice, she read from her note card: "This is a country that's full of rage. ... We must be able to have conversations -- that means all of us -- without fury, without rage, without screaming, without obscenities, without walking off."
She continued: "It's very dramatic. People love train wrecks. People want us to do more of it because it's good for the ratings."
But, she said, "You don't walk out of your own home. ... We are used to Bill O'Reilly. He loves this. He loves to pull your chain. He loves to get you angry. This is just what he wanted. … I don't have to tell you the regard I have for you," she said to the ladies, "... having said that, I think it was the wrong thing to do."

OH please, Babs is just saying that. Look at all the free publicity the show got. In TV there's no such thing as bad publicity.

O'Reilly painted all Moslems with the same brush when he said "Moslems attacked us on 9/11".
He should have used the term "Moslems terrorists or fanatics" and the fracas would not have occurred.
Are our memories so short that we don't remember sending loyal Japanese-Americans to internment camps during WW11?
It was the same type of hateful, prejudicial fear mongering that caused that debacle (even though Japanese-Americans were fighting for us in the European theater). I deliberately used the adjective prejudicial because there were not internment camps for German or Italian-Americans.
I guess history indeed repeats itself.
