  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Black lives matter succeed in Police erasure.

No, we should probably find someone who would put your brain to better use.

Fava beans and a nice Chiante?

On the other hand, I'd kinda like to see what happens to speech patterns after staggered showtunes during some physical questionaires. Then again, I don't think I like him quite that much.

Might've been watching too much Gotham. Or too much news, either/or. Bit difficult to discern the difference between the two at this point.

You need to learn the difference between a stereotype and actual statistics. If a float represents an institution that is actively discriminating (as opposed to individuals working for an institution and making it known)......my god, why do I bother with you. You can't even tell the difference between the two.

Even you don't have a clue what you're rambling on about.

An institution that is actively discriminating? C'mon man, get a clue. Talk about painting with a broad brush. You really don't get it.

This is what got banned from the gay parade, lots of gay cops and their partners. I can't even call it pride anymore because I feel anything but pride in the organization now.

No group should dictate who can and can't march----it's fucking stupid. There are bad cops who should not be cops but you can't demonize a whole group of people---that's fucked up. Police participation is def a good thing.

I notice you never actually back up your delusions. Perhaps if I post the definitions of stereotype and what a statistic is, it could help you along. This particular version is for English language learners because you desperately need help in this area.

1 stereotype /ˈsterijəˌtaɪp/ noun
plural stereotypes
Learner's definition of STEREOTYPE
[count]
: an often unfair and untrue belief that many people have about all people or things with a particular characteristic
racial/cultural stereotypes
the stereotype of the absentminded professor
— stereotypical /ˌsterijəˈtɪpɪkəl/ adjective [more stereotypical; most stereotypical]
a stereotypical representation/idea/approach
He's the stereotypical absentminded professor. [=he's a professor who is absentminded in the way that people often think of professors as being]
— stereotypically /ˌsterijəˈtɪpɪkli/ adverb
2 stereotype /ˈsterijəˌtaɪp/ verb
stereotypes; stereotyped; stereotyping
Learner's definition of STEREOTYPE
[+ object]
: to believe unfairly that all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same
It's not fair to stereotype a whole group of people based on one person you don't like.
— stereotyped /ˈsterijəˌtaɪpt/ adjective
a stereotyped representation/approach/character
stereotyped roles
— stereotyping noun [noncount]
ethnic/gender stereotyping

Learner's definition of STATISTIC
1
[count] : a number that represents a piece of information (such as information about how often something is done, how common something is, etc.)
One statistic that stuck out is that 40 percent of those surveyed did not have college degrees.
— often plural
The statistics show that teenagers are involved in a high percentage of traffic accidents.
Her speech included some revealing statistics about unemployment rates in rural areas.
basketball statistics
— sometimes used figuratively
I may be just another statistic to my employer, but I am a human being and have feelings.
— called also (US, informal) stat
2
statistics [noncount] : a type of mathematics that deals with the study of statistics
— statistical /stəˈtɪstɪkəl/ adjective
Statistical evidence indicates smokers are more likely to get lung cancer than nonsmokers.
— statistically /stəˈtɪstɪkli/ adverb

So you see, they are not the same thing.

In that vein, you should look up and cross reference law enforcement violations and if/when and how they're prosecuted. The answer to that is 'Not Much'. Police misconduct to lgbt individuals is also rather high, shall we say.

Those links contain statistics, while you, unfortunately, seem to think you're one of those temporarily embarrassed millionaires, to borrow Ronald Wright's phrase. Sad damned thing, too.

Yup, it's called defending myself, so stop your whining.

A defense of an argument or opinion should include facts. "Ha ha stupid-head" and things of that nature aren't a defense. It's a toddler's idea of a rebuttal. How old are you supposed to be? I'm certain you're old enough to understand at least the concept of a coherent argument. You're doing your opinion no favors, it's like a fart combined with an ill supremacist wind.

This is not Harvard, it's a message board on gay porn site, that's all it is. I owe you dick all. Obviously many others agree that the police should not have been banned, and if you bother to check the other thread, you'll also notice that, again, many agreed that BLM had no right to hold the pride parade hostage. No debate required.

Stupid head.

Let's go back to prop 8.

The black community had a chance to prove to the LGBT community that they don't fall into the stereotype that blacks are more homophobic than other communities. And guess what, they failed to dispel that stereotype.

Oh yeah, and here's an article that tried to twist things in favor of the black community.

http://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/Black-support-for-Prop-8-called-exaggeration-3177138.php

But an analysis of precinct-level voting data on Prop. 8 from Alameda, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego and San Francisco counties, which are home to nearly two-thirds of California's black voters, suggested that African American support for Prop. 8 was more likely about 58 percent.

That support among blacks is still well above the 52 percent Prop. 8 received from all voters in the Nov. 4 election. Much of that can be attributed to the strong religious tradition in the black community, where 57 percent of African American voters attend church at least once a week, compared with 42 percent of Californians overall.

In other words, while that article tries to defend the black community, they have to still admit that the percentage of black supporting prop 8 was still extraordinarily higher than other communities.

Sorry BLM, this homo is not with you.

Remember what BLM actually means..... BLACK Lives Matter. They don't give a flying fuck about other lives. Anyone who ain't black don't matter. Poor MLK jr. He's turning over in his grave as these BLM fools spit in his face. According to MLK's dream we all were the "Brotherhood of Man"...... There was no BLACK or White, or any other "color", just people.......

Thank you BLM for destroying the dream of MLK.

I was talking about your 'black ppl kill gays' Bon mot, it segued from there. A coherent response isn't only mandatory at Harvard and Yale; you also need it to pass the basics in elementary school. It's undoubtably why some people people think so little of your reasoning processes.

You must be tired tonight, so never mind, forget about it and go to bed. Tomorrow you can try again.

Going back to the origin of the ban, it is wrong due to the method of it coming around as much as the actual ban. Protestors blocked the previous parade with demands, or ultimatums. That is not an acceptable means of negotiation with the group in charge of a pride event. The organizing committee or board doesn't represent an oppressor.

Hijacking the event and presenting demands didn't make black lives matter more. It polarized the activity and made race a divisive factor.

It's ultimately Toronto's business and doesn't likely stand much chance of spreading in Canada or elsewhere, as most other boards of pride events would not give in to this sort of bullying. It is yet baffling why this board caved at such an outrageous tactic, but being there and knowing the members is likely required. It was an amazingly stupid calculus that threw out a strong LGBT ally in favor of a much weaker ally.

It's surprising the lack of discussion in this thread by actual Canadians if not Toronto residents. Only Neil has weighed in. It seems like a hot topic.

So as of today BLM/Pride are back peddling and inviting police officers to participate in Toronto Pride festivities, just not in uniform. It just so happens that the city is voting tomorrow whether to rescind Pride's funding. Go figure. And many corporate sponsors have dropped out. What a shame.

I wasn't aware they did.

they dont, even in africa where homosexuality is punishable by death it isn't happening all willy nilly like people who have never set foot in africa would like to believe.
