I find it strange that people think that Karen Walker was this kind, interesting soul...but Ghetto is this annoying pest. Am I the only one who remembers that he was originally "marleyisalegend", and his posting during his first few months was exceptionally antagonistic, to the point of him getting banned at least once? Yeah, if you have a low tolerance for playacting and online snaps, I can understand you finding him wearysome. But he always seemed able and willing to bring things down to warth when the topic warranted it.

I forgot about that original name, but now that you mentioned it, I remember it. I personally don't have a problem with KW or Ghetto's thread, you either get it or you don't, you either play along or you don't. He's been doing it for literally years on here, but I guess when a few users get rubbed the wrong way then it becomes a problem.

I found Walker's posts entertaining. After the novation, there were too many broadsides with too little meat.

That said, JUB has always had caricatures as a central part of the forum. We could probably name 10 to 20 users who were and are puppet accounts or at least contrived characters rather than real personalities.

Although not a conspiracy theorist, I never underestimate the potential of a man with infinite idle time on his hands and boredom in the forum.

As for getting rubbed the wrong way, yep. When the posts leave their light side and begin having a malevolent direction, it merits taking as more than farce.

Of course it's convenient to rewrite history as nothing but humor when there is wall-to-wall evidence on the forum of anything but humor in many attacks and slurs.

The supposed bridge would include a thread mocking the slain in Florida right after the shooting, in such bad taste it was removed by the mods. It didn't seem to have that supposed bridging effect and was obviously intended as incendiary. It is an old pattern on this forum, and goes back through many trolls.

It's merely more partisan behavior among people who share the same bias about Florida, or race, or America, or whatever.

Much of Ghetto's recent posts have been little more than constant carping that Americans are only vile and evil. Sprinkling in a few flaming queen comments among it doesn't make it all humor. Sorry.

I’m not claiming it was only you. I did say “people” because it happens pretty generally on this forum and it gets tiring to see.

That Florida thread at most was in bad taste rather then something with malicious intent. Plenty of people joke about tragedies and all that, with out them being at the expense of the victims. What he did was nothing new. People either like it or they don’t and that’s fine.

I’m not trying to claim he was some perfect human being on here who never did wrong but I don’t like this smear campaign happening. It just invites pitchforks and axes, it got bad even when It was happening to Taralen and that happening is in part fault of the Mods. That should have been handled way sooner and I’ve seen it handled sooner in the past on here. I wouldn’t use them as a measurement of completely good judgment.

Why is the assumption that Ghetto is gone? Why are we using the past tense?

As for animus, if the debate would ever stay the debate instead of becoming ad hominem, it would be easier not to be dragged into the mortar exchange.

Smear isn't the word. It's the same statements made directly, not after the fact.

For those that find mocking the victims fine, have at it. I don't apologize for calling that out.

There's always had a gang mentality at JUB. JUBber A dislikes JUBber B, so all of JUBber A's friends dislike JUBber B and then the sniping begins. Kind of like grade school. We'd be much better off responding to what people say instead of to personalities. That's easier said than done, however, but not as much fun, either.
